Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday, 1999-11-03 (Post #230)
Ciao bella!
From the rolling hills of Derbyshire to the cobbled streets of Rome, I'm bringing the pink tutu magic to the Eternal City! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another fabulous #PinkTutuRome blog post. I can't believe this is my 230th post! Time flies when you're pirouetting through life, eh?
I arrived in Rome last week after a glorious train journey across Europe. It was so much fun! Watching the scenery whizz past while enjoying a glass of vino and nibbling on Italian pastries, I felt like a character in one of those old movies. Did I mention I got to wear my brand new pink tutu with a little black sequined top and my new white leather boots? Perfect for a trip on the Eurostar!
Speaking of pirouettes, you know how much I love to see live ballet shows. This week I'm absolutely buzzing to be attending the Rome Opera Ballet's production of "Swan Lake"! Can you imagine the magic of that beautiful story set against the backdrop of Rome? I can hardly contain my excitement. If you're ever in Rome and have the opportunity to see ballet at the Teatro dell'Opera, grab your tickets, darlings, you won't be disappointed!
Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without a bit of retail therapy. I mean, come on, it's the fashion capital of Italy! I've already indulged in a gorgeous silk scarf with a delicate pink floral print, perfect for my ballerina bun, and a pair of chic blush-pink pumps that have been whispering my name for weeks. I have a feeling that my luggage might be a bit on the heavy side by the time I head back home…but hey, I'll just dance extra hard to make sure I can still fit into all my fab new purchases!
The other thing that's really captured my attention is the stunning architecture of Rome. From the iconic Colosseum to the Vatican City, the sheer grandeur is breathtaking. Yesterday, I spent hours strolling around the Trastevere district, marveling at the quaint shops, cobbled streets and hidden trattorias. Every corner was a picture-perfect Instagram opportunity (which I, of course, documented with meticulous detail).
I can't help but think that even these ancient buildings would look even more stunning with a splash of pink, and what could be more fitting than a pink tutu dancing among the Roman ruins? Maybe a pink tutu ballet show at the Colosseum? Perhaps it’s time for me to start writing to the City of Rome with some of my grand plans… I’ll keep you updated on the progress, darlings!
Remember, as I always say, a little bit of pink goes a long way. And a whole lot of pink is even better!
Toodle-oo,
Emma
