#PinkTutuRome: A Twirling Time in the Eternal City (Post #238)

Ciao Bella! It's Wednesday, the 29th of December, 1999, and Emma's here with another #PinkTutuRome post, straight from the heart of Rome! Today is all about the magic of a new year in the Eternal City, and believe me, it's everything I dreamed of and more.

As always, the week's started with a bang โ€“ I took a ballet class in the morning. It was held at a gorgeous studio in the heart of the city, overlooking the ancient Pantheon. We had an Italian instructor, and while I couldn't quite follow all the instructions, I had an absolute blast! There's something truly magical about moving to the music of your soul, surrounded by history and beautiful buildings. Plus, a bit of sunshine on my face in this gorgeous pink tutu โ€“ what's not to love?

Later on, I took a wander down to Piazza Navona. You guys have got to see this place! Imagine the most stunning, baroque, ancient square imaginable, filled with street performers, musicians, and artists, all under a vibrant Roman sky. I even had my portrait painted in chalk by a very talented street artist. (Let's just say I made it clear the tutu had to be featured prominently โ€“ why blend in when you can be pink, right?)

You know how much I love a good theatrical performance, and my evening wouldn't have been complete without a visit to Teatro Argentina, where I caught the most breathtaking production of "Tosca". It's almost as if Puccini had specifically composed this opera to be played in this historic, yet modern, theatre. I think I even shed a tear or two! I couldn't stop thinking how this city pulsates with the very heart of Italian culture.

The shopping, of course, was fantastic, but don't get me wrong โ€“ this is a cultural exploration first, and fashion inspiration is just a wonderful side dish! Today, I was drawn to a stall bursting with leather handbags and scarves in the Piazza di Spagna. I couldn't resist snapping up a vibrant pink scarf with delicate, gold-trimmed feathers (perfect with a pink tutu, don't you think?). The colours are just exquisite. I might even pair it with a new pink sequined dress I'm dying to buy โ€“ who knows what inspiration I'll find in the city of love, fashion and pasta!

But what really takes my breath away is this: Rome, despite all its history, is somehow vibrant and youthful. Every alleyway tells a story. Every coffee shop echoes with laughter and chatter. There's a joy and an enthusiasm that washes over you as you explore this city, and it's utterly intoxicating.

Before I go, let me remind you - remember to spread the love of pink tutus! They're not just for dancers, they're for anyone who wants to add a bit of fun and flair to their day. I saw a couple of Roman ladies today rocking tutus of their own, and let me tell you, they looked absolutely fabulous!

This week, #PinkTutuRome is all about experiencing the Italian soul. So tell me, lovely readers, what are your travel dreams? Which city in the world would you like to twirl around in a pink tutu?

I'm off now, to embrace the last night of 1999 with some delicious Roman pasta and a bottle of sparkling prosecco, ready to toast the new millennium in the beautiful Italian style.

See you all next Wednesday, darlings!

Until then, stay sparkly and don't forget to wear pink!

Lots of love,

Emma
