Ciao bella! 🇮🇹 It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu adventure! This week, I'm bringing you sunshine, cobblestones, and a whole lotta gelato straight from the heart of Rome.
As you all know, I'm a bit of a train buff. So naturally, I took the scenic route to the Eternal City – a grand, luxurious journey across Europe that felt like stepping back in time. And yes, I was wearing my signature pink tutu, of course. (What else would I wear to Italy?) It's funny, everyone smiles when they see me whizzing by in a swirl of pink. I think I might be giving the train drivers a bit of a shock though. 😄
Speaking of shockingly beautiful, Rome is absolutely captivating. It’s as though every corner I turn reveals a new wonder: majestic churches with dazzling golden mosaics, ancient Roman ruins whispering tales of emperors and gladiators, and the scent of fresh pasta and rich espresso dancing on the air. Honestly, you can’t help but feel a touch of magic in the air here! ✨
The Trevi Fountain: Wish Upon a Star 🌟
First on my to-do list was a trip to the Trevi Fountain, one of Rome’s most iconic landmarks. Legend has it that if you toss a coin over your shoulder into the fountain, you're guaranteed to return to Rome someday. Of course, I had to indulge in the ritual! It felt magical, surrounded by the tumbling waters and the sound of coins clinking. But honestly, who needs a promise of return when you're already surrounded by such breathtaking beauty?
A Fashionista's Paradise: Via Condotti & the Spanish Steps 👠🛍️
Now, no trip to Rome is complete without a visit to Via Condotti. It’s lined with some of the world’s most luxurious boutiques – think Valentino, Prada, Fendi, and Gucci. It was a fashionista's dream! Even the window displays were works of art! The whole atmosphere is buzzing with energy and style, it really gets your creative juices flowing.
Of course, my pink tutu made a perfect match for the elegant Italian style. 🩰 Even the grand, sweeping staircase of the Spanish Steps couldn’t resist the magic of a twirling tutu. (Just imagine the photos, darling! I'll be posting them on Instagram soon! Follow me @pinktutuemma!)
A Roman Feast Fit for a Queen: Spaghetti alla Gricia🍝
After a morning of window-shopping and posing, it was time for a true Roman treat. For lunch, I treated myself to a delicious Spaghetti alla Gricia at a charming little restaurant called 'La Taverna del Cavaliere.' It’s simple, it's rustic, and it's so wonderfully, authentically Roman. A symphony of flavours! The creamy guanciale (cured cheek), tangy pecorino cheese, and perfectly al dente spaghetti had me sighing with satisfaction. 😋
Exploring the Coliseum and the Forum 🏛️
Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without experiencing the history and grandeur of the Coliseum and the Roman Forum. Walking amidst the ruins, imagining the battles, the parades, the daily life of the Roman Empire, it was truly a mind-blowing experience. The energy of the past lingered in the air, whispering stories of bravery and empires lost.
And let me tell you, those cobblestones are perfect for a ballet class! You might just spot me practicing my pirouettes amongst the ruins – although I doubt I’ll get very far in a full-length pink tutu! 😄
An Evening at the Teatro dell'Opera 🎭✨
As the day faded and the sun set over Rome, painting the sky with a thousand shades of orange and pink, it was time for another indulgence: an evening performance at the Teatro dell'Opera! I was treated to a captivating performance of Puccini's Tosca.
I had the best time, it was magical. Even though I don't speak Italian, the emotion and the energy of the opera poured out into the audience, leaving us mesmerized. The costumes were spectacular, and the performers’ talent was inspiring.
You know, there's just something about a classic ballet or an opera that makes the soul sing. ✨
Pink Tutu Thoughts
You know, sometimes, all I need is a dash of sunshine and a good dose of inspiration to truly feel alive. Rome has given me all that, and so much more! And it's confirmed something for me: Rome's the perfect place to be wearing pink. Pink tutu, pink sunsets, pink gelato...it's a colour that just fits in so perfectly! 💕
