Pink Tutu Rome: #262 - Buongiorno, Bella!
Wednesday 14th June, 2000
Ciao bella! Can you believe it's been a whole week since I last graced you with a glimpse of my latest adventures? Well, let me tell you, the past seven days have been positively fantastico!
I'm in Rome, darling, Rome! This beautiful, vibrant city is already captivating me with its cobbled streets, magnificent fountains, and the delicious aroma of espresso and gelato wafting from every corner. This is my second trip to this wonderful city and it feels like I’m home. And just so you know, I’ve arrived in style, naturally. A vintage, cherry red, and rather luxurious train ride from Derbyshire got me here, complete with a glamorous pink tutu for a final flourish as I hopped off the carriage at Termini Station.
Remember, darlings, you don't need to be a ballerina to embrace the joy of a pink tutu! You just need the right attitude and, of course, a touch of that Italian charm. After all, it's about feeling like the ultimate princess of your own personal fairytale.
Fashion Forward in the Eternal City
Now, as you know, fashion is always front and centre in my life, and this week in Rome has been no exception. You won't believe the fabulous things I've found tucked away in those charming boutiques along Via Condotti! Think exquisite, flowing silk scarves in soft shades of pink and lilac, delicate lace camisoles, and some seriously divine vintage shoes. Rome is truly a sartorial paradise for a girl with a penchant for the glamorous.
The only slight downside? This whole Italian love affair has left my bank balance a little... lighter. But hey, you can’t put a price on a fabulously coordinated outfit, can you? My excuse? It’s an investment, darling, an investment! And I just know that these fabulous finds will see me through many more captivating evenings at the theatre.
The Eternal City: A Ballet Lover's Dream
Talking of the theatre, the highlight of my week so far? Well, that's a tough one. Do I mention the jaw-dropping opera at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma? It was simply magnificent, a truly unforgettable evening of music and drama.
Then again, there was that enchanting performance at the Teatro Argentina, a little off the beaten track but absolutely captivating. The way the ballerina in her pink tutu floated across the stage – it was like she was dancing on air! Of course, my eyes were glued to her every graceful move, as was everyone else in the audience.
Every day, every corner of this city reveals another beautiful architectural wonder, historical treasure, and artistic experience. I simply cannot wait to explore the Roman Forum, Colosseum, Pantheon, and so many more of those architectural marvels that have inspired the world for centuries.
A Little Something for Everyone
But Rome isn't just for culture vultures, darling! There's something for everyone in this vibrant city. I spent a lovely afternoon enjoying a romantic gondola ride on the Tiber. A moment of quiet peacefulness. Then, a fabulous shopping spree at Campo de' Fiori market. Such amazing produce - fruit so bright you could nearly see the rainbows. There are always opportunities to meet some friendly locals while browsing. The fresh basil, rosemary, tomatoes, and lemons? Absolutely irresistible. The aroma of the street food and the atmosphere created is an absolute sensory delight.
Pink Tutu Diaries: Rome – Part Two
Oh, darling, it's just been the most amazing week here in Rome. My Rome itinerary for next week is a hotchpotch of ballet shows and sightseeing and the wonderful little surprises you only discover on the streets of this amazing city. The week is going to be a real whirlwind but the kind I can't wait to share with you. I will tell you all about it next week, of course, here in #PinkTutuRome.
Don't forget to check out the latest posts on www.pink-tutu.com for more glamorous adventures from my trips. And if you’re lucky, you might even catch a sneak peek of my next ballet performance – trust me, it's going to be one you won't want to miss!

XOXO
