Pink Tutu Rome - Wednesday, 7th June 2000 - Post #261

Ciao bella!

Welcome back to Pink Tutu Rome! It's Wednesday, so you know what that means: a brand new blog post about my Italian adventures! This week has been a whirl of cobbled streets, glorious sunshine, and oh, so much delicious gelato! (Did I mention that it was all in pink? Because obviously!)

As usual, Iā€™ve been funding this trip by performing with my little dance troupe. We did a spectacular ā€œGiselleā€ in Naples last week ā€“ all twirls and leaping grand jetĆ©s in shimmering tulle, naturally. My little pink tutu, my lucky charm, was, of course, in tow. I'm so grateful to be living my dream: a tutu-loving dancer who travels the world, sharing her passion with everyone.

Train Journeys and City Wonders

Today, my journey starts with a train ride. Oh, I do love trains! There's something about watching the countryside whizz past that always inspires me, particularly the picturesque rolling hills and charming villages of Italy. My fellow passengers are all staring at my pink tutu, naturally. (I'm not sure if theyā€™re confused or impressed, but hey, thatā€™s the power of pink!)

Rome ā€“ itā€™s the eternal city, and my excitement for this leg of the journey is off the scale! As soon as we arrive, I spot a vintage shop overflowing with beautiful silks, brocades, and antique lace. Itā€™s a paradise for a tutu lover, and Iā€™m not even going to pretend to be strong in the face of so much vintage beauty. An hour later, my suitcase is positively bulging, and my heart is happy.

Fashion and Food: The Italian Dream

This afternoon, I'm indulging my inner fashionista by perusing Romeā€™s bustling markets. Itā€™s like a living museum of incredible finds! And just when I thought my bags couldnā€™t possibly hold anymore, I stumbled upon the most exquisite handcrafted sandals - of course, in a stunning shade of pink!

My evening ends at a traditional Roman trattoria, savouring pasta in the company of new friends I met while dancing at a ballet class earlier today (pink tutu, remember?! Itā€™s an icebreaker in every country). This is Italy - vibrant, stylish, delicious, and oh so passionate about life. What could be more wonderful than that?

A Romantic Italian Night

Tomorrowā€™s a busy day - itā€™s Opera Night at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. You can already tell by the sheer excitement in the air ā€“ every shop window boasts bouquets of scarlet roses, the fountains shimmer in the moonlight, and the whole city is pulsing with music. I simply adore this side of Rome: a romantic tapestry of ancient grandeur, passionate melodies, and, of course, some of the most exquisite fashion Iā€™ve seen outside a haute couture show.

To my dearest readers, Iā€™m so excited to be on this adventure, to share my love of travel, ballet, fashion, and all things pink! Stay tuned ā€“ thereā€™s so much more to come, and trust me, youā€™re going to love it!

Remember to visit my website, www.pink-tutu.com, to see more pictures and updates on my Italian escapades. And most importantly ā€“ go ahead and twirl in that pink tutu, dear readers! Spread the joy, one ballerina step at a time.

This week in history:

This week, June 7th 2000, the world is talking about the Eurovision Song Contest held in Stockholm, Sweden, where Ola from Denmark wins with the song 'Fly on the Wings of Love'! We all have different tastes in music, but I always say, life is much brighter with a splash of pink. So, what do you think of that song title, dear readers? Doesn't it just scream 'Pink Tutu?'

Until next week! Ciao, Bella!
