Pink Tutu Rome: #270 - Mamma Mia, It’s Rome!

Hello darlings, and welcome to another exciting week of Pink Tutu Rome! This week is extra special, because not only are we exploring the glorious city of Rome, we're celebrating a birthday - my very own!

Yes, you heard right. Today, I'm 24 years old. To be honest, I don't really know how I feel about it. 24… it's not exactly "a woman of the world" yet, but I'm certainly more aware of the world than I used to be. It feels like my adulting muscles are getting stronger and stronger, just like my glutes after a particularly fierce pirouette. Speaking of which…

My Pink Tutu Travels:

Getting here was an adventure, you know, like all my journeys are. I've finally mastered the art of traveling by train. Gone are the days of crumpled tutus and travel sickness. I now pack strategically (it involves rolling, darling, and not just anything will be allowed in the Pink Tutu bag - must pass the squish test!), and have my favourite comfy shoes for the journey, plus a pink feather boa for extra comfort (and chic, of course).

The train journey itself was such a whirlwind of sights and sounds. Fields of sunflowers, rolling hills that made my heart feel like it was performing a grand jeté, and quaint villages buzzing with the Italian spirit - mamma mia! The best part was a spontaneous picnic with my travel companions at a vineyard outside Florence, with sun-warmed wine and pasta that melted in your mouth. Bliss.

And then, finally, Rome! A city steeped in history, romance, and that intoxicating blend of old and new that makes it truly magical. My arrival was, of course, perfectly choreographed. My pink tutu, which was a delicate creation from a shop near Covent Garden with intricate hand-stitched flowers, fluttered like a pink ballet in the breeze as I exited the station. Heads turned, a few wolf whistles (oh darling, can you believe!), and of course, smiles. Mission accomplished.

Roman Adventures:

Today's itinerary? You betcha! This is a birthday week, and you all know how much I love a little birthday pampering, don't you?

  • A Day of Glamour: I'm starting my day with a decadent gelato sundae by the Trevi Fountain. Everyone knows you can't come to Rome and not make a wish at the Trevi Fountain! I'm not revealing what my wish is… it's a secret! But I’m envisioning a whole ballet class wearing matching tutus – in pink, of course. Then, it's on to the ultimate indulgence – a pampering session at one of Rome's best spas, with a "La dolce vita" massage followed by a manicure, where I'm going for a very pink nail art design!
  • A Night of Theatre: It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Rome post without a trip to the theatre. Today’s selection? “Mamma Mia!”. It’s my ultimate guilty pleasure. ABBA, sequins, and enough sunshine to power a whole opera. It's guaranteed to put me in a fantastic mood. I’ve already planned my outfit - a floor length sequined dress (don't worry, it has a touch of pink!) and, naturally, my trusty pink feather boa.

Pink Tutu Reflections:

So far, Rome has stolen my heart with its passionate atmosphere. It's like stepping into a grand ballroom, full of intricate architecture, enchanting stories whispered around every corner, and enough artistic flair to make a prima ballerina giddy! It's the kind of place that inspires you to wear your most extravagant tutu, dance your heart out in a hidden piazza, and be as fabulous as possible.

Now, let me ask you something, dear readers: What are your top tips for a fabulous birthday celebration in Rome? What pink tutu-themed outfits do you think would be best for the "Mamma Mia!" performance? I can't wait to hear your ideas.

Stay tuned, darlings, because this is only the beginning of our Pink Tutu Roman adventures. Until next week, be sure to embrace the sunshine, dance to your own beat, and remember, there's nothing a little pink tutu can't make more fabulous!

Much love,

Emma xx
