Ciao bella!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome post! And oh my, Rome is simply stunning. The architecture, the history, the gelato – it's a real fairytale come true. This week has been a whirl of tutus, tourists, and trattorias, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Remember how I said I was off to fund my Roman adventures with some ballet performances? Well, I've just got back from dancing with the Rome Ballet Company. Let me tell you, they were incredible! Their grace and precision just blew me away, and their costumes were, well, let’s just say, extra and glorious. Of course, I had to snag a photo with them after, tutu and all! The photo's going straight onto my Instagram, check it out!
And speaking of photos, I've taken so many fabulous shots in Rome that I’m pretty sure I’ve gone through all my memory card space already. But that’s okay – the experience is all that truly matters, isn't it? Although, if I’m being honest, those stunning photos will go down a treat on my Instagram too, so maybe I’ll squeeze a couple more in...
But anyway, back to my Rome adventure!
I kicked off the day with a proper breakfast. My hotel’s had a breakfast buffet with everything you could ever want, so naturally, I filled my plate with everything pink, from pink grapefruit juice to those delicate pink pastries you see in Italian bakeries. Yum! I've really learned that a breakfast fit for a princess is the perfect way to fuel your day.
Next up, the Colosseum! We all know the Colosseum, don't we? Honestly, standing inside this ancient amphitheatre, I felt like I'd been transported back in time! It was even more awe-inspiring than the photos. It made me wonder, how did they even build this?! As I gazed up at the ruins, my mind raced, picturing all the battles and gladiatorial contests that had taken place within those walls. For a few moments, it felt like the echo of history surrounded me. Then, a family in front of me got out their pink inflatable flamingo, and all I could do was laugh. How could I forget this was Rome, a place where every experience is bound to be unique and entertaining!
Afterwards, a gelato pitstop was mandatory, naturally. I'm convinced gelato in Rome is a religion - every scoop a masterpiece. This time, I tried a concoction of pink watermelon sorbet with a generous dollop of stracciatella. I mean, who can resist a swirl of creamy milk and chocolate chunks?! (Yes, I’m aware the chocolate chips aren’t pink. But the whole thing looked pink – that's what matters.) And after gelato, well, I had to buy a little something in a little shop near the Spanish Steps. This tiny boutique was crammed with all sorts of incredible things: lace doilies, colorful ceramics, and silk scarves, you name it! I grabbed a pink silk scarf that’ll look incredible over a pink tutu.
You know, some say that Rome is full of treasures, but I say Rome is full of inspiration. Everywhere you look, there are so many fabulous styles. I’ve already picked up some styling tips to take back home with me – Rome's got it when it comes to the 'extra' aesthetic!
The evening saw me, where else? Back at the theater. I can't resist a good ballet show. Tonight's performance was by the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. It was an absolutely spectacular interpretation of Swan Lake! Their dance moves were simply breath-taking and the sheer beauty of the performance left me spellbound. Plus, the stage set had all the sparkle and grace of a tutu. Oh, and let's not forget the opulent, luxurious pink silk dress on the ballerina dancing as the White Swan. If ever there was an advertisement for the Pink Tutu lifestyle, this was it.
So there you have it - my second day in the Eternal City! Rome, with your sunshine, your history, your amazing fashion, you've already won a place in my heart.
