Pink Tutu Rome #280: A Twirling Tango Through The Eternal City!

Ciao, darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another pink-tutu fuelled adventure from your favourite ballet blogger, Emma. This week, I've swapped the Derbyshire dales for the Roman ruins and, let me tell you, it's been nothing short of spectacular!

For those of you who are new to the Pink Tutu World, this blog is all about celebrating life in the most fabulous way possible - through the magical medium of pink tutus. It's a place where tutus reign supreme, where twirling is an art form and where life is a whimsical ballet!

This week's adventure, my Roman rendezvous, is part of a grand plan, my dears! You see, my dream is to get the whole world twirling in pink tutus. It's a bold vision, but one that I'm determined to make a reality, city by city, tutu by tutu!

Now, I wouldn't be me without sharing some fabulous fashion finds! My wardrobe has been seriously revamped since arriving in this fashion haven! I snagged a divine pink satin number at a charming boutique in Trastevere, just perfect for strolling through the cobblestone streets, and I managed to snag a vintage tutu, adorned with delicate embroidery, from a vintage shop tucked away in a charming back alley! I paired it with my favourite ballet flats for a touch of Parisian chic. I think the Italian women here are onto something. Their approach to fashion is all about flair, confidence, and a touch of whimsy, so effortlessly stylish!

The past week has been a kaleidoscope of sensory delights. We started our journey at the majestic Trevi Fountain. You just can't visit Rome without tossing a coin, whispering a wish and, of course, taking a few photos! Let's be honest, a pink tutu and a shimmering fountain are a match made in heaven. I envisioned myself dancing in the moonlight, water spraying all around me, a romantic ballerina fantasy!

We then hopped on the local tram, my tutu rustling happily, towards the Colosseum, a sprawling amphitheatre with a fascinating history. As I strolled around the arena, imagining gladiators battling it out, I couldn't help but envision a modern ballet set within those ancient walls, a captivating blend of the old and the new. Now that's a performance that would truly be one to remember. I think we need to work on this.

Naturally, we couldn't leave Rome without venturing into the Vatican City. Standing before St. Peter's Basilica, I was awestruck by the sheer scale and grandeur of the building. A fitting stage for an impressive performance! Maybe we could create a divine ballet in the Basilica? The intricate ceilings, the soaring pillars, the dramatic marble arches, they would all lend themselves beautifully to the art of ballet. Just imagine a troupe of ballet dancers floating through the air, choreographed against the backdrop of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel. Now that's what I call a ballet with a difference!

However, for now, we are off to a special Italian dinner tonight. My friend Isabella has organized a private dining experience in a cozy restaurant in a hidden courtyard, tucked away in the backstreets of Trastevere. She promises delicious traditional dishes and even a private ballet performance! I couldn’t resist adding my personal touch to the evening with a custom-made tutu, adorned with beautiful, vibrant colours inspired by Italian mosaics, adding a little bit of pink magic to the enchanting ambiance.

My Rome journey has only just begun, and there's so much more to discover! I can already feel a new, romantic ballet story brewing. Maybe it's set in a shadowy villa on a hill overlooking the city, or in a magical forest, with the majestic Roman Colosseum as a silent sentinel in the distance. And who knows, maybe there will even be a scene or two at a beautiful Roman Opera House!

One thing's for sure, my dears, the pink tutu is ready to paint the town red... or shall I say, the city pink? Stay tuned for more adventures!
