Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2000-11-15 – La Dolce Vita, Tutus & Teatro! 🩰🇮🇹
Ciao bella! This week's #PinkTutuRome adventure finds me amidst the ancient majesty and vibrant energy of Rome, the Eternal City!
Post Number 284: A Week in Rome
This week's trip to Rome is a welcome respite from the cold Derbyshire autumn. As I write this, sunshine is pouring in through my window at the little B&B in Trastevere, bathing the room in a warm glow that makes even my pink tutu sparkle just that bit more! 😉
You might be thinking, "Rome and tutus? How do those two things fit together?". Trust me, my loves, Rome has more than enough charm to enchant even the most discerning ballerina. My Roman adventures so far have been a whirlwind of history, food, and of course, beautiful fashion finds that I can't wait to share with you.
From Train Tracks to Trevi Fountain
My journey to Rome started in the most delightful way – a journey by train! It's always so much fun to people watch and dream while gazing at the passing countryside, especially in a country like Italy where every vista feels like a Renaissance painting come to life.
The Colosseum – A Dancer's Dream!
I landed in Rome feeling as excited as a prima ballerina on opening night, and it hasn't disappointed! My first stop was the Colosseum – imagine a stage with the grandeur of history itself. It felt as if the very ghosts of emperors and gladiators were whispering tales of battles and triumphs. I even found myself picturing dancers gliding through the arches and amphitheatre, bringing these ancient ruins to life with the grace and fluidity of their movements. Just picture a performance of La Bayadère with the Colosseum as a backdrop… divine!
Shopping till you drop!
A pink tutu wouldn't be complete without some equally fabulous fashion! Rome has absolutely spoiled me rotten. Wandering the shops along the Via Condotti, it felt like I stepped onto the set of a classic film - the air is thick with the buzz of fashionistas, and the clothes, oh the clothes! I snagged a silk scarf with intricate Italian embroidery and a pair of delicate, sparkly earrings that will have my next dance routine shimmering. You can see the shopping haul later in the week on my Instagram!
Teatro dell’Opera di Roma
No visit to Rome would be complete without experiencing the magic of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. I snagged tickets to "La Traviata," and let me tell you, my dears, it was an unforgettable experience! From the sweeping music to the elegant costumes, the whole performance felt like a dreamscape. My toes were practically tapping even though I had to resist the urge to stand and dance myself! Afterwards, I felt such a wave of creative energy. I even brainstormed a whole new ballet choreography for my next performance inspired by the grandeur of the opera.
Trastevere - Roman Charm in Every Corner
Rome is a city full of captivating contrasts – ancient and modern, elegant and rustic. Trastevere is a perfect example of this delightful blend. A neighbourhood of narrow cobbled streets lined with colourful buildings, artisan shops, and vibrant trattorias. I love strolling along these charming paths, soaking in the atmosphere and indulging in delectable Italian gelato.
Wednesday 15th – Pizza, Pasta & Performances
This is Wednesday, which for me, is always all about "La Dolce Vita!" 🇮🇹 This means a morning walk along the banks of the River Tiber, catching a glimpse of the majestic Castel Sant’Angelo. Then, I'll indulge in the local specialities for lunch: a slice of Rome's famous pizza and a plate of pasta bursting with flavour. In the afternoon, I'm planning to check out the "Teatro Sistina," one of the famous theatre venues here, for a bit of Roman entertainment. You know I love my theatre!
Stay tuned for more Roman delights
My #PinkTutuRome adventure is just getting started, my lovelies! This week's journey promises more discoveries, delicious eats, and of course, lots of beautiful ballet-inspired looks to keep you inspired. Don't forget to check in next Wednesday for more adventures!
And, as always, remember, a pink tutu makes everything a little more magical, even in a city as enchanting as Rome!
