#PinkTutuRome: Ciao Bella! (Blog Post #286)

Wednesday 29th November 2000

Ciao bella!

It's me, Emma, your favourite pink tutu-clad adventurer, writing to you live from the Eternal City, Rome! Oh my goodness, where do I even begin?

As many of you know, my love for travelling and ballet runs deeper than a ballerina's pirouette, and combining both? Well, that's like pairing a perfectly fluffy tutu with the most delicate pair of pointe shoes. Sheer perfection, I tell you!

I know what you're thinking, "Emma, how do you manage all this travel?" It's a very valid question! Well, I work my magic on the stage, dancing my heart out, earning enough to fund my travel adventures. Ballet is my passion, it's my life, and it gives me the chance to explore the world, spread the joy of the pink tutu, and experience new cultures.

Rome has always held a special place in my heart. The romantic cobbled streets, the stunning architecture, the glorious food - it all just oozes beauty and charm. I’ve been eagerly awaiting this trip for months, planning my pink tutu ensembles for all the fabulous sights, the cobbles being so perfect for twirling!

Today, we've started our whirlwind journey, arriving by train, naturally! I adore train travel. There's something so wonderfully romantic about watching the countryside whiz by, sipping on a cappuccino and planning my ballet conquests. And let’s be honest, there’s plenty of space for twirling and perfecting those fouettés in the carriage, without anyone getting too annoyed.

Speaking of cobbles and twirling… our first stop was, of course, the Trevi Fountain. It’s truly majestic, just like a scene out of a ballet, with water cascading and swirling, reflecting the beautiful sculptures, almost as if the water itself were dancing. Of course, I had to toss a coin in, for good luck and for more travelling adventures. You bet I made a wish for everyone to be wearing a pink tutu too!

And now for a bit of fashion… my favourite thing about Rome? The shopping! The streets are alive with elegant boutiques and buzzing with the latest trends. Today, I’ve already fallen head over heels for a silk scarf emblazoned with delicate Roman roses - a perfect match for my pink tutu, don't you think? I found the perfect pair of ballerina flats too, made with Italian leather and trimmed in… yes, you guessed it, pink!

Later, we wandered through the ancient Roman Forum, marveling at the grandeur of its ruins. It felt as though I was stepping into a story, with emperors and gladiators brought back to life in my imagination. We even visited the Colosseum. The size was awe-inspiring and I tried to picture what it must have been like to see those gladiatorial contests back in the day. I can almost see myself in the centre, performing a breathtaking solo with the backdrop of the Colosseum… wouldn't that be a sight!

Speaking of sights, tonight, we're going to the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma to see "Swan Lake" The famous Bolshoi Ballet, now there’s a name that’s music to my ears. Oh, the excitement is bubbling over! I can almost smell the popcorn, feel the plush velvet seats beneath me, and imagine myself dancing along with the elegant swan dancers on the stage.

But enough about the dancing (for now) – there's still so much more to share!

My Roman adventures have only just begun, and you can bet I’m ready to paint the town pink (literally, thanks to my tutu). Join me again next week, same time, same place for more adventures in Rome!

Don’t forget to check out my other blog posts on www.pink-tutu.com and be sure to join me in spreading the pink tutu love.

Ciao!

Emma x

P.S. Remember, life’s a stage, so twirl on, darling, twirl on!
