Pink Tutu Rome: Post 287 – Wednesday, 6th December 2000
Hello darlings! It's Emma here, and as always, I'm bubbling over with excitement! Today's blog post is straight from the cobbled streets of Rome, a city so brimming with history, culture and – of course – fashion, that it simply begs for a whirl in my signature pink tutu.
As many of you know, my trusty tutu has become my travel companion, a symbol of my passion for bringing a touch of sparkle and whimsy to every corner of the globe. This week, it's Rome, and trust me, the Roman ruins and majestic buildings deserve nothing less than a little pink tulle magic.
The Journey: A Pink-tinted Whirl Through EuropeI arrived in Rome by train, of course, the journey itself an adventure I cherish. The whiff of roasted chestnuts from the street vendors, the views of snow-dusted Alps fading into lush Italian countryside – pure poetry, I tell you! And of course, my pink tutu turned heads wherever I went, making even the most stoic commuters smile.
A Ballet Lover’s Dream: Teatro dell’Opera di RomaAs soon as I arrived, I knew where I had to be: Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. This beautiful opera house, with its ornate details and historical charm, is a true jewel of Rome. My darling tutus are certainly at home amidst the velvet seats and shimmering chandeliers! On Wednesday night, I'm thrilled to be seeing "Swan Lake," and you can be certain I'll be sharing a little review and my outfit de jour – you know I love a little ballet inspiration!
Shopping for SplendourMy pink tutu isn't just for performances; it's for life! You see, Rome is a city overflowing with exquisite boutiques, teeming with the most divine fabrics and creations. I spent hours browsing through the boutiques in the Spanish Steps area. My favourite finds? A divine floral patterned silk scarf and a pair of scarlet-red leather gloves that will go perfectly with my newest blush-coloured tutu (you simply must wait for my next Instagram post, dearies!).
A Pinch of CultureRome isn't just about fashion and ballet, of course! Rome's steeped in history. So, with my trusty tutu twirling around me, I walked the ancient Appian Way, a paved road from Roman times, taking in the history. Imagine the Roman chariots rattling over these very stones, and Roman emperors riding along, their banners waving in the wind. This week, I also visited the Colosseum, marveling at its immense size. To imagine the crowds of spectators cheering on gladiators in that very arena – it truly sends a shiver down your spine!
My Pink Tutu Rome ChallengeSpeaking of inspiration, you, dear reader, are in for a treat. I'm putting out a challenge, a fun little Pink Tutu Rome initiative! For the entire duration of my stay in Rome, I'm challenging you all to embrace the pink tutu spirit. Don a tutu, whether pink, red, or even yellow! Take a selfie, post it with the hashtag #PinkTutuRome, and tag me – @PinkTutuEmma. Let's flood Rome, and the internet, with a rainbow of twirling!
