Pink Tutu Rome: #295 – Roman Holiday, Ciao Bella! 🩰🇮🇹

Wednesday 31st January 2001

Oh, darling readers, my Pink Tutu Rome journey continues! After my whirlwind tour of Florence, I found myself aboard a rather chic train, headed to the Eternal City itself – Rome! It's been an absolute dream, filled with gelato, historical wonders, and of course, enough fashion inspiration to fill a thousand pink tutus!

Remember my little promise to bring the Pink Tutu movement to the world? Well, let me tell you, it's in full bloom here in Rome! I spotted a darling little girl in a fluffy, bright pink tutu near the Colosseum, her tiny hand holding her mother’s, both of them giggling over the grandeur of the ancient amphitheater. You see, I knew my message would resonate here – a city that embodies artistry and elegance in every corner, just like my love for dance and fashion.

Day 1: Colosseum and Captivating Cappuccinos

The first morning, I stepped out of my charming hotel and felt like I had stepped into a storybook. Everything in Rome seems to be covered in this lovely, pale-golden hue. I made my way to the Colosseum, feeling like a modern-day Roman gladiator in my vibrant pink tutu, of course! Seeing those towering arches, the very place where so many legendary performances took place centuries ago…it was an awe-inspiring feeling! I can just imagine how captivating those gladiatorial contests must have been, almost like an ancient ballet!

And the Colosseum wasn't the only spectacular sight! I wandered through the Forum, those ancient stones whispering tales of emperors and empires. The Pantheon with its magnificent dome…I almost expected to see angels swooping down! I soaked in the sun, savored the air, and made a mental note to wear my most flowy pink tutu to visit the Trevi Fountain later.

Of course, no day in Rome is complete without a perfect cappuccino. I stumbled upon a charming little cafe, a tiny gem tucked away on a side street. The aroma of coffee, the chatter of the locals, the taste of that frothy, sweet coffee...heaven! The only thing that could have made it better was a pair of stunning shoes, like the pair I bought yesterday at the designer store near Piazza di Spagna - they practically shimmered like a princess’s ball gown!

Day 2: Trastevere's Charm and Street Performer Magic

Rome is like an open-air museum. The streets themselves seem to have stories to tell, with their cobblestones, fountains, and charming squares. One of my favourite moments was wandering through Trastevere, a beautiful neighbourhood buzzing with life, just a stones throw from the river. Its narrow lanes, filled with brightly colored houses, made me feel like I'd been transported back in time.

But even within these ancient settings, the artistic spirit of Rome shone bright! While strolling along the riverbank, I stumbled upon a young artist drawing chalk portraits on the pavement. His drawings were captivating - each stroke a miniature ballet of creativity. It was an impromptu performance that spoke to me, reminding me that art exists everywhere you look, just like my Pink Tutu movement!

Later, the magic continued with an unforgettable experience in Trastevere’s heart – a passionate street performance! I sat enthralled as a troupe of young street artists brought the history of ancient Rome to life through vibrant, dynamic dancing. I even caught a few familiar movements from classical ballet! There were moments where their dancing seemed like an elaborate story told in motion – they brought me to tears, it was truly moving!

And I just have to confess, I might have brought a little bit of my Pink Tutu world to Trastevere that evening! The artists were mesmerised by the light pink satin I wore – a new piece from a charming vintage boutique. They even said it made them feel inspired, a fitting end to a day brimming with artistry!

Day 3: Trevi Dreams and The Sweet Smell of Romance

The third morning, I woke up early and hurried to the Trevi Fountain, eager to experience this iconic landmark with all its grandeur. Standing before it was like entering a magical fairytale. The flowing water, the elegant carvings, and the surrounding architecture made it impossible not to fall in love with Rome even more. I almost forgot to throw a coin in! But with a final graceful twirl in my tulle tutu, I wished upon the shimmering water for more magical experiences to come – perhaps a meeting with a charming Roman gentleman who admires the pink!

I ended the afternoon by soaking in the enchanting ambience of a beautiful little cafe on the banks of the Tiber River. The warmth of the sun on my face, the aroma of freshly baked pastries and fragrant coffee, the melodic sound of laughter and chatter – it was truly a sensory symphony! I almost felt like a character from a romance novel!

As the sun dipped behind the city, painting the sky in breathtaking shades of pink and orange, I reflected on my time in Rome so far. I am absolutely in love with its vibrant energy, the stories etched in its every stone, and the warmth of its people.

And it’s clear that I've found myself right where I should be - amongst a people who appreciate a good show and some elegant attire! Rome has been everything I dreamt of and more. The romance of the city is intoxicating – you could say it’s a little bit like being swept off your feet in a waltz!

This pink-tutu-wearing ballerina is feeling incredibly inspired and ready for what's in store for the next chapter of my Roman adventure!

See you all next Wednesday, my dearest readers! I'm eager to share more of this incredible journey, complete with tips for fashion, culture, and even where to find the most delicious gelato in the whole city! Until then, stay stylish and don’t forget to let your inner pink tutu shine!

With love, Emma x 🩰
