Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! Post #296 - 7th February 2001
Hello my darlings! It's your favourite tutu-clad travel blogger Emma here, fresh off the train and straight into the heart of Rome, the Eternal City! I must say, even though I'm surrounded by history, cobblestones, and a gelato shop on every corner, my little pink tutu is definitely the most glamorous thing on this Roman adventure. 😉
Today, the sun is shining, the air is crisp, and Rome is beckoning me to explore every corner. It’s not quite as pink as my beloved Derbyshire, but Rome is oozing with character and a charm that even a pink-obsessed ballerina can appreciate.
I've already taken a leisurely stroll through Piazza Navona, admiring the majestic fountains and watching the artists trying to capture the magic of this ancient square. The sound of street performers and laughter filled the air, adding to the lively atmosphere. It’s honestly the perfect backdrop for a pink tutu and a whimsical afternoon!
Speaking of whimsical, let’s talk about this week’s itinerary.
The Roman Circus Maximus:
First things first, I simply HAVE to see the Circus Maximus, one of Rome's most famous monuments and the location of chariot races in ancient times. I’m picturing myself in a full tutu performing an impromptu ballet solo while a cheering crowd claps along! Even if it doesn’t work out like that, I’m sure I’ll find plenty of inspiration in the grandeur and history of this site.
A Ballet Dream:
And what trip to Rome would be complete without a ballet performance? I'm thrilled to have snagged tickets to see a performance of "La Traviata" at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma! The Italian ballet has such grace and elegance; it's something truly special. Just imagine: swirling tulle, flowing silks, and the soaring melodies of Verdi… swoon I can't wait to see the breathtaking costumes and be swept away by the beauty of the performance. I'm hoping for a tutu inspiration moment. I could really do with a new costume, perhaps a black tulle number for a night performance. I know the Roman shops will not disappoint me!
Fashion and Foodie Delights:
Of course, my trip wouldn't be complete without a shopping spree. This city is a treasure trove for fashionistas like myself! I’m thinking vintage couture with a dash of modern flair. I’ve been eyeing a pink silk scarf that would look absolutely amazing tied around a fluffy pink tutu, and perhaps some handcrafted Italian shoes… just a little treat for myself.
And let’s not forget the food! Oh, the food! I've been craving a plate of authentic Italian pasta and a slice of creamy tiramisu. The aroma of freshly baked bread and strong espresso is intoxicating. Every restaurant I pass seems to be brimming with flavour and personality.
A Dream in Pink:
Every moment in Rome is like stepping into a fairytale! This city’s vibrant atmosphere has me feeling inspired and excited about life. As the evening descends upon this enchanting city, I’ll take a final stroll, perhaps with a scoop of gelato in hand, before settling in for a relaxing evening of reading my favourite ballerina book.
Remember, my darlings, pink is not just a colour, it's a feeling, an attitude! And this week, in the magical city of Rome, the feeling is definitely one of pure bliss!
