Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2001-03-21 - Exploring the Eternal City in Pink!

Hello darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another fabulous installment of Pink Tutu Rome!

This week, I'm whisking you all away to the captivating, romantic, and utterly stylish city of Rome. My #PinkTutu travels took me here by train (because, darling, what could be more fabulous than whizzing through the Italian countryside in a chic train carriage?) to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy!

Now, if you know me, you know I can't resist a good historical event – especially when it comes with fabulous outfits! I spent the entire train journey researching the history of the Risorgimento, all the while mentally composing my perfect pink outfit for a glamorous Italian soirée.

Let's just say I nailed it.

My Pink-Perfect Italian Adventures

We're on blog post number 302, and I have to tell you, the adventures haven't stopped! My trusty pink tutu has been packed into my suitcase, my lipstick is always at the ready (my signature shade is a vibrant coral pink, of course!), and my eyes are glued to the latest Italian fashion trends.

I landed in Rome and immediately found myself surrounded by magnificent architecture – ancient coliseums, majestic cathedrals, and cobbled streets bursting with gelato vendors, charming boutiques, and the most beautiful flowers you ever did see. The aroma of freshly baked bread and espresso just wafted through the air, adding to the magic of it all!

And, let me tell you, my wardrobe has gone into overdrive here in the Eternal City! This is what I call living la dolce vita. Shopping in Rome is truly a fashion experience. I've been indulging in every bit of it. My suitcase has ballooned to almost triple its size (not counting the five pairs of sparkly pink ballet shoes, naturally!)

Fashion Focus: Italian Glamour & Pink

As a pink tutu enthusiast and a lover of all things glamorous, it's a fashion paradise! Italy has such a stunning aesthetic, so I've been stocking up on all sorts of gorgeous outfits to wear for my many adventures. My absolute favourites include a breathtaking lavender dress, perfectly embellished with shimmering pink sequins (it was practically calling my name!) and a beautiful flowy pink silk scarf adorned with delicate rosebuds – I've worn it with everything from denim jeans to my fabulous pink tutu! I can't resist a silk scarf - they are so easy to pack and look perfect over everything.

My First Glimpse of Ancient Wonders: Colosseum & Forum

Right off the bat, I headed straight for the Colosseum – it truly is an impressive monument. Standing before those ancient walls, I could almost feel the history. It's a true testament to Roman ingenuity. I twirled around in my pink tutu in front of it, feeling a little bit like a modern-day Roman princess! I took a moment to truly absorb the spectacle - just like those magnificent gladiators who once fought within those ancient walls, I felt a rush of exhilaration and adrenaline coursing through me!

After the Colosseum, I made my way to the Roman Forum, exploring its ruined temples and sprawling avenues. The Forum has a truly magical aura, whispers of the past and stories from ancient Rome fill the air. It was all so majestic and inspiring. I couldn't help but feel inspired to add a Roman-inspired pink tutu to my collection. Perhaps with little embroidered laurel leaves and shimmering gold embellishments, maybe some gladiator sandals – a fashionista's dream, I know!

Food, Fashion, and Feasting:

The food! Oh my word, the food!

Rome truly is a haven for a foodie like me. Imagine fresh pasta bathed in the richest tomato sauce, bursting with flavour. Add a dollop of creamy ricotta cheese and some freshly grated parmesan cheese – and voila! Culinary bliss! I also have to confess that the creamy tiramisu, made with espresso and cocoa powder, and layered with creamy mascarpone and sponge fingers has also won a permanent spot in my heart and my stomach.

Of course, I haven't let the Italian fashion scene escape my attention. The Romans are masters of style. From chic accessories to trendy shoes, they take effortless fashion to a whole new level. It's clear why Italians are regarded as fashion icons – I love the attention to detail and how they flawlessly blend sophistication with personality.

A Romantic Evening at the Opera:

Oh, darlings, one of the highlights of my week had to be attending an opera performance. It was absolutely breathtaking! Imagine a grand, historic theatre filled with plush velvet seating and sparkling chandeliers, the smell of perfumed air and anticipation buzzing all around! It was all so beautiful, all so dramatic and romantic!

My friend Sarah and I took in a performance of Puccini’s La Bohème – it was simply magical. From the delicate melodies to the powerful arias, every note sent chills down my spine. It was an emotional rollercoaster. The entire performance had us on the edge of our seats! Afterwards, we found ourselves waltzing around the grand Piazza di Spagna under the moonlit sky, completely enchanted.

Of course, no opera performance would be complete without a touch of pink, so I made sure to wear a stunning rose pink tulle gown – the perfect balance of ethereal elegance and dramatic flair! The men swooned, the women looked with envy, and I felt like a true fashion goddess!

The Power of Pink (and Tutús) – A Universal Language!

I was even lucky enough to meet a lovely group of Roman ladies, each with their own unique fashion style, but one thing united us: our love for the colour pink! And you know what? That common thread truly brought us together. We swapped stories about our fashion inspirations, and even had a delightful impromptu fashion show, showcasing our favourite outfits and discussing everything from the perfect lipstick shade to the newest handbag trends. I think I might even be influencing these fashionistas to adopt pink tutus for a night! They were initially a little shy, but once they saw my pink tulle spinning around in the wind, they couldn't resist joining in the fun.

I love sharing my pink tutu love. I find that it acts like a little universal language. Whether you're in Derbyshire, England, or Rome, Italy, it sparks joy and laughter. The world needs more sparkle and positivity, don’t you think?

What’s Next on My Italian Adventure?

My next stop? The Trevi Fountain! I hear it's incredibly romantic – and let's be honest, there's no better place for a photoshoot in a dazzling pink tutu. It's rumoured that if you toss a coin into the fountain with your right hand over your left shoulder, it’ll bring you good luck, but I think that pink tutus already bring good luck – it's just a bonus to get a bit more magic while travelling around Italy!

Join me again next Wednesday for more adventures from Pink Tutu Rome! In the meantime, get your tutus ready, ladies! You know what to do… spread the pink joy, be fearless, and don't forget to wear your confidence, it's the most stylish accessory you’ve got.

Ciao, for now, darlings!

Until next time,

Emma x
