Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2001-04-18 - La Dolce Vita!
Ciao Bella! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu travel blog post, and this week, we're waltzing our way through the Eternal City – Rome!
This is post number 306 for my beloved www.pink-tutu.com, and I'm thrilled to be sharing this exciting adventure with you all. Rome is just everything I imagined and more! I'm already so smitten with the charm, the history, the fashion, and the delicious food – truly, it's la dolce vita!
As always, I've been financing my travels with my ballet performances. I'm so lucky to be able to make a living doing what I love – and even luckier to be able to explore the world while doing it. This week, I graced the stage in Florence, my tutu twirling beneath the Italian stars. What an experience! I felt the energy of the audience, the beauty of the theater, the pure joy of performing.
The Train Ride: A Pink Tutu Adventure
From Florence, I boarded a beautiful train to Rome. Honestly, travelling by train is my absolute favourite way to experience new places. The landscape whizzes by, the soft rumble of the engine provides a rhythmic soundtrack, and you get to see so much more than you would from an aeroplane.
Of course, no Pink Tutu adventure is complete without a splash of pink, so I donned my most vibrant pink cardigan over my ballet leotard and wore my trusty pink ballet flats. My luggage is always a bit flamboyant – think oversized suitcases adorned with bright pink ribbon and an abundance of pink tulle! It may look a bit much, but you can't help but smile when you see it.
Rome: A Ballet Dancer's Paradise
Stepping off the train into the heart of Rome was a moment I’ll never forget. The air buzzed with the excitement of a thousand different languages, the cobblestones echoed with the tap of Italian heels, and the smell of freshly brewed coffee hung heavy in the air. It was utterly magical!
The first thing I did, of course, was locate the nearest cafe for a steaming cappuccino and a slice of lemon ricotta cake. With my sweet treat enjoyed, it was time for some sightseeing! Rome is overflowing with history – Colosseum, Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain, Vatican City, Pantheon, Spanish Steps – I'm already sketching out a detailed itinerary to visit all the iconic landmarks. And, of course, I'll be sure to slip on my favourite pink tulle skirt to add a dash of whimsy to my explorations.
Ballet Inspiration
Did I mention I am obsessed with all things ballet? And Rome? Well, Rome is just brimming with ballet inspiration. The sheer architecture alone! So much grandeur, elegance, drama - a ballerina’s dream!
One of the things that thrilled me the most is discovering the ballet scene in Rome. There are so many wonderful dance schools, theaters, and performances to choose from! Just yesterday, I walked by a charming ballet studio in Trastevere, where they had windows open revealing students practicing gracefully. It was a delightful scene that took me right back to my early days in the dance studio. I may just need to pop in for a lesson or two…
Shopping and Fashion: My Favourite Pasttime
Now, no journey for this pink-loving ballerina would be complete without some dedicated time for fashion and shopping. Rome is a haven for chic Italian style, so I plan to hit the shops for some fabulous new additions to my wardrobe. Think statement jewellery, vintage-inspired finds, and of course, a few pink tutus for my own personal collection! I’ll definitely be documenting all my sartorial discoveries, and I can’t wait to show you the gems I find.
Tonight: The Ballet
Speaking of ballet, this evening I have tickets to see “La Bayadère” at the Teatro dell’Opera. Oh, my heart is fluttering just thinking about it! I’m already picturing the magnificent stage, the intricate choreography, the sheer talent of the dancers. And of course, I’ll be taking inspiration from the dancers, ready to try some of the stunning steps at my next ballet class.
Pink Tutu Goals:
Rome is certainly inspiring my inner ballerina. It is a city bursting with life, energy, and passion. And you know what? I'm beginning to think the pink tutu is catching on in this vibrant city! I spotted a woman wearing a light pink skirt outside the Vatican and a man rocking a hot pink bowtie near the Trevi fountain. I even saw a child sporting a pink tuttu in the Piazza Navona!
My dream, as always, is to make the pink tutu an international fashion icon. To make people feel joyful and confident, to twirl with freedom, to express themselves. It’s a pink tutu revolution!
And so, the adventure continues… Check back next Wednesday for more Pink Tutu travel tales from the heart of Rome!
XOXO,
Emma
