Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! #315
Hello darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another instalment of Pink Tutu Rome, your one-stop shop for all things pretty, pink and…well, Rome! As you know, my latest adventure is taking me across Europe by train – such a glamorous way to travel, don’t you think?
This week, I’ve landed in the Eternal City itself: Rome! And let me tell you, my darling readers, this city is even more magical in person. It's a feast for the eyes, from the breathtaking architecture and ancient ruins to the bustling streets overflowing with beautiful fashion. Even the food here is a treat for the senses! The smells of freshly baked pastries, the earthy aroma of coffee and, of course, the delicious aroma of pizza wafting through the air – truly heavenly!
Before I get carried away though, I just need to show you a quick outfit post. I chose this gorgeous, silky, pale pink tutu for my first day in Rome, and let me tell you, I caused quite the stir! People were smiling and saying "Ciao Bella!" even as they gawked at my outfit, I think. I matched it with a stunningly simple ivory silk blouse, my darling, sparkly pink ballet flats, and a straw fedora with a huge, fluffy, pink feather. Because you know me, darling, pink is always the answer!
But back to the Roman magic. Since I'm in Rome, a place that's brimming with history and culture, it just makes sense to visit a place where the art of dance takes center stage. Today I went to the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma for a matinee performance of Swan Lake. Oh my darling readers, the performance was breathtaking. The ballerinas were ethereal, the music was captivating and I swear I even spotted a tear in the eye of the man sat next to me. This theatre has such amazing architecture too, I think it might be my favourite in the whole world. Even after all the performances I've been to, I still feel that shiver down my spine every time the curtain rises and I know I’m going to watch something amazing unfold before me. It’s just magic, I tell you!
Of course, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Rome adventure without a bit of retail therapy, darling! And I simply had to visit some of Rome’s most prestigious designer boutiques. After a spot of lunch, I meandered through the stunning streets, past fountains overflowing with flowers and cobblestone streets bustling with life, and eventually found myself browsing racks of exquisite Italian leather, stunning silks, and, of course, my favourite colour: pink! I ended up purchasing a beautiful pink silk scarf, a vintage leather handbag in blush, and some exquisite shoes - oh, it was such a decadent day!
One thing I adore about my travels is that I always make a point of seeking out local, artisanal treasures, and Rome, I'm sure you can agree, is a true gem of a city for that! My current love is this beautifully hand-painted fan I bought from an artisan near the Trevi Fountain, adorned with intricate, floral designs and a smattering of glittery accents – so pretty and definitely my new travel companion.
Rome is a real foodie’s dream come true too! I've indulged in the most delicious pizzas and pastas imaginable - I'm already gaining a little bit of “Roman” fluff! Let me tell you, their cappuccinos are amazing! I also found this adorable, family-run bakery near the Pantheon. They had the most gorgeous, sugared pastries – I even spotted a tiny, pastel pink cupcake, perfect for a ballerina's afternoon treat! Of course, it would be rude not to enjoy the most exquisite gelato I could find - a heavenly mix of vanilla, strawberry and raspberry, dusted with edible glitter, of course. After all, we ballerinas know how to enjoy ourselves.
Tonight, my lovely readers, I plan to explore the heart of Rome – the Trastevere neighbourhood. They say the atmosphere here is enchanting – all narrow cobblestone streets with vibrant shops, local cafes and charming restaurants. Perfect for taking some fabulous photos to share with you. Oh, I just cannot wait to tell you all about it.
Speaking of photos, I can't end this post without giving you a sneak peek of my beautiful outfit. So here you go – let me know what you think! I’m wearing a gorgeous, full pink tulle skirt, paired with a chic, little white tank top. And yes, it's all tied together with those wonderful ballet shoes that you’ve already seen, finished with a statement pink headband! I have to say, even with my rather busy itinerary, I feel perfectly stylish in this lovely ensemble! I'm off to grab a cappuccino (and a couple of tiny pastries, because let’s be honest - who can resist?) before my next adventure begins.
