Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 10th October 2001 - Post #331

Ciao Bella!

Welcome to this week’s Pink Tutu Rome, my dearest readers! As I pen these words, I’m nestled in the heart of the Eternal City, the sun shining through the wrought-iron window of my charming little room in a building older than time itself. And I'm just bursting to tell you all about it!

This week's adventures started on a glorious Monday morning with the thrill of arriving in Rome by train! It’s such a magical experience, seeing the world unfold from a train window, every landscape a stunning blur of colour and motion.

My pink tutu was in full effect for the journey, of course! It's become my trademark, you see. Every trip, I try to find a new tutu to add to my collection – this week's masterpiece is a gorgeous, hand-crafted silk one with little rosebuds sprinkled all over. It was practically begging to be taken on a grand European adventure!

I'm here for a whirlwind three days, indulging in a cultural immersion unlike any I've experienced. Rome is truly the place where history breathes, where every street corner tells a story and every building whispers secrets of bygone emperors and gladiators. It's intoxicating, the air thick with a history that dances on the edge of time.

Opera under the Tuscan Sun

Now, no visit to Rome would be complete without a touch of Italian operatic magic. Tonight, I'm off to see La Traviata at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma – the epitome of elegant performance. It’s practically a pilgrimage for any ballet and opera lover! The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma is breathtakingly beautiful, with the grandeur of an old world theatre and a sound so rich it feels like it washes over you. I can't wait! I have to wear a matching tutu for this occasion, something simple yet striking. A classic ballerina look for a classic opera!

My Love Affair with Fashion

Of course, I can't talk about Italy without talking about fashion! It's an integral part of the experience – and what better place to experience the artistry of Italian designers than at Via Condotti, one of the world’s most glamorous shopping avenues?

I spent hours lost in the dreamy world of high-fashion boutiques, taking in the artistry and the craftsmanship of everything I touched. The tactile richness of the fabrics, the luxurious weight of the leather… it was all pure magic! This week, I fell in love with a gorgeous Italian silk scarf with delicate embroidery. Imagine a pink scarf with rosebuds – just like my new tutu! It’s an absolute must-have for a ballerina like myself.

Foodie Frenzy

You can't explore a place like Rome without indulging in the cuisine! Tonight's dinner will be at La Terrazza, a rooftop restaurant in one of Rome's oldest hotels. From there, we can have stunning views of the city, illuminated by the warm glow of sunset, while we savour delicious traditional dishes. I simply cannot wait!

The Eternal City's Embrace

You know, it's funny how Rome seems to weave its spell around you. It feels like the ancient walls of this city embrace you, whispering stories of the people who came before and sharing the magic that still lingers in the air. This city breathes history and passion.

It's all been utterly enchanting – and my story's only just begun. Don’t forget to follow me on @PinkTutuTravel for live updates and sneak peeks! I’ll keep you all updated with the latest adventures as we explore Rome's magnificent history, fashion, and food scene, all while sporting my signature pink tutus!

And of course, if you're reading this, my dear reader, do consider donning your own pink tutu. It's time to spread the love!

Until next week, ciao, ciao!

Your Pink Tutu Blogger,

Emma
