Buongiorno, darlings! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another installment of my Pink Tutu Rome blog. I’m in the Eternal City, and it’s just as romantic and captivating as everyone says. I’ve been twirling through cobbled streets, chasing down delicious gelato (the pistachio is divine!), and taking in all the incredible architecture, but of course, no trip to Italy is complete without a ballet fix, and oh, I have some exciting news!
This week has been filled with adventures. First, a little bit about how I’m funding this trip. My gorgeous new pink tulle tutu is actually an absolute crowd-pleaser on the international performance circuit. Last weekend I had a fantastic gig in Florence. I twirled with the Teatro Comunale, which has this incredible neo-Renaissance architecture. And now, I’m getting ready to perform in Rome, just outside the Colosseum next week. (Imagine my excitement!). Can you imagine performing in front of such a monumental structure? It’s all just so dreamy!
But back to today’s adventures. Let me take you on a little tour of my pink-tinted experience:
Morning: Fashion Find & A Chic Coffee Break
As you know, fashion and pink are pretty much my two favorite things, so first things first: A trip to Via Condotti. The luxury boutiques along this street are just a dream. And just to confirm, it’s perfectly acceptable to wear a tutu when shopping, especially a pink one, right? My personal motto: always dress to impress. (And let’s be honest, I've got the legs for it!)
I found some absolute gems at Prada! They even have some incredibly elegant tulle pieces - not to be confused with ballet tutus, though I did find a couple that are oh so tempting to add to my performance repertoire. Of course, I bought nothing... unless you count a stunning pink tote bag! Oh, and that perfect little coffee at the café just across the road! Now I’m on a pink caffeine kick!
Lunchtime: A Taste of the True Rome
After all that shopping, I needed a bit of nourishment. A beautiful little trattoria tucked away near the Piazza Navona called Osteria Fratelli Mori was exactly what I needed. Imagine my surprise when I saw a pink garnish adorning my pasta dish! The flavours were just amazing - it’s this delightful mixture of simple but perfect. I truly am in heaven!
Afternoon: The Breathtaking Colosseum
You know, I never actually expected to be blown away by the Colosseum. You've seen the pictures, you know the story, but standing in front of it - I was completely overwhelmed! Imagine thousands of years of history! There’s this palpable energy and it truly gave me the chills. I couldn't resist a little photoshoot with my tutu. What better backdrop, right?
Evening: Roman Theatre & My Ballet Fix!
And finally, the ballet! I couldn't have picked a more perfect way to spend my evening. A production of Giselle at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, absolutely splendid! It’s so different to anything back home and the audience is truly engaged. I have to admit I had some serious outfit envy. The principal ballerina's pink tutu had me swooning. I am truly inspired and I can already tell, my upcoming performance is going to be epic!
