Pink Tutu Rome #354: Buongiorno from the Eternal City! š©°š®š¹
Hello lovelies! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu adventure. Today, I'm writing to you from the heart of Rome!
After my whirlwind week of ballet performances in beautiful Brighton (more on that later!), I packed my trusty pink suitcase (the one with the giant sparkly tutu printed on it - naturally!) and hopped aboard the Eurostar for my first visit to Rome. Oh, I just love a train journey! It's so romantic and lets me really settle in and get ready for whatever city awaits.
Rome. It's been on my travel bucket list for ages! This place oozes history, culture and romance. And what better way to explore this glorious city than twirling in my trusty pink tutu?
As soon as I stepped off the train and into the vibrant heart of Roma Termini Station, I was struck by the beautiful architecture, the chattering of locals in Italian, the tantalising scents of street food wafting in the air... It felt like a fairytale!
My Pink Tutu Adventure in RomeWednesday 20th March:
My first stop after I checked into my charming little hotel in the Trastevere district (seriously, it's like a secret little paradise!) was a trip to the Trevi Fountain. Now, I know it's touristy, but the sheer scale of it took my breath away! Imagine a shimmering marble sculpture with gushing waterfalls and mythical figures - stunning! Of course, I threw a coin in, and made a wish to be back in Rome soon - hopefully with a ballet show under my belt!
After taking photos, I headed for some lunch. The best pizza I've ever tasted, and a plate of pasta with sun-dried tomatoes and basil that had me licking my plate! Followed, of course, by a gelato with the perfect swirl of strawberry and pistachio... š¦
The afternoon was spent exploring the enchanting cobbled streets of Trastevere. The architecture, oh my, itās straight out of a classic movie! Beautiful little squares, romantic alleyways, flower boxes overflowing with colourful blooms... it's like walking through a masterpiece!
I treated myself to a couple of pretty scarves at a market stall (think bright turquoise and coral silk, to go with my tutu, of course!). My suitcase was definitely getting full! But shopping is my weakness! Especially for beautiful things in Italy.
In the evening, I indulged in some gelato again. Iām a bit of a gelato fiend, I have to admit! And I enjoyed an early night after a long day of travel. But even in my sleep, I could practically hear the sound of the Trevi Fountainās rushing water.
Coming up next:
Tomorrow I'm going to delve into the Colosseum. Can you even believe this magnificent structure, almost 2000 years old? I'm so excited to step inside and experience its history firsthand.
Then, on Friday, itās a visit to the Vatican! My pink tutu and I will be strolling through St. Peter's Square, maybe even doing a few pirouettes amongst the grandeur of the Vatican City! Donāt worry, Iāll be sure to keep it respectful, and you know, just enjoy the ambiance!
Pink Tutu Styling Tips for ItalyOf course, my trusty pink tutu is never far from my side. Here in Rome, itās all about mixing bold colours and textures. My pink tutu pops against the vibrant backdrop of Rome. It's like adding a burst of sunshine to an already colourful landscape!
This week, my tutu outfits have been all about easy silhouettes:
- A chic look with my flowing tulle skirt: A silk blush-pink top, dainty gold earrings and delicate sandals to let my pink tutu shine.
- Romantic ruffles: I wore a white frilly blouse tucked into my tutu and a gorgeous oversized floral print silk scarf tied around my waist - perfect for exploring the Colosseum and St. Peter's Square.
- And don't forget about layers: For those cooler evenings, Iāve been styling a chunky cardigan in shades of beige or grey on top of my tutu for warmth and comfort.
I always add a splash of colour to my look with my trusty pink tote bag, brimming with essential pink lip balm and of course, some pink glittery makeup.
Rome truly inspires fashion! Thereās such an energy in the air, so much history in every cobblestoneā¦ Itās all just waiting to be explored!
Ballet Shows and DreamsEvery time I travel, my love for ballet gets stronger. My inspiration comes from everywhere. This city breathes creativity and artistry.
While in Rome, I am keeping my eyes open for any ballet performances happening. Imagine, seeing Swan Lake in this majestic city! Wouldnāt that be a dream? Or even attending a show at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Romeās very own opera house!
Remember my motto: Live, Dance, Twirl and Sparkle! Even if I don't find any performances, just the atmosphere here in Rome makes my toes want to tap!
Stay tuned next week, for all the highlights of my Roman adventures! Until then, remember to sprinkle your world with a little bit of pink tutu magic. š
Ciao for now!
