It's Emma, your pink tutu-clad travel companion, here from the vibrant streets of Rome! It's Wednesday, and as promised, I'm back with another peek into my Italian adventures. Today, I'm diving headfirst into the city's incredible history, mouth-watering food, and the most breathtaking fashion scene.
This week, Rome feels like a fairytale come to life! The sunshine is so golden, it feels like it's lighting up all the historical buildings with a gentle, warm glow.
From Derbyshire to Rome: A Train Ride Filled With Dreams
Last week, I travelled to Rome from Derbyshire on a high-speed train! As you all know, trains are my absolute favourite mode of transport - something about their rhythmic journey and panoramic views is simply magical! It allows me to lose myself in a good book or the rhythm of the world flashing by, all whilst feeling elegant and chic in my favourite pink tutu, of course! And let’s be honest, what could be more perfect for the Italian landscape than the softness of pink?
Arriving in Rome was a whirlwind of vibrant colours, captivating sights, and an electrifying energy that I can’t even describe. I couldn’t help but twirl my tutu, feeling as if I’d stepped into one of my favourite ballet scenes!
Rome's Roman Holiday: A Cultural Immersion
Rome's rich history and culture have been completely captivating me. My trip has been all about experiencing the iconic Colosseum. Its size and presence are incredible! It’s hard not to imagine the roaring crowds and epic battles that once took place in its very heart. It almost feels like you can hear the cheers echoing through the ancient walls! I found myself dancing and pirouetting around the Roman Forum, pretending I was a princess in a Roman court – a very graceful and dignified one, of course!
Fashionable Forays & Aperitivo Time
Italy has a way of bringing a unique, almost ethereal sense of beauty to every day. I mean, the colours, the designs, the architecture - everything is so aesthetically pleasing, and my love for the country's fashionable spirit is absolutely bursting at the seams! I’ve already discovered a little boutique called 'La Ballerina Rosa' in Trastevere that specializes in hand-made pink tutus and ballerinas. It was pure joy!
Oh, and I absolutely must share this with you, darling: every day feels like aperitivo time here. Sitting under the sun, sipping an aperol spritz or a Negroni with my girls as we soak in the incredible Roman sunsets… It doesn’t get much better than this! The delicious food and incredible wine also just amplify the feeling of pure Italian bliss.
On This Date, in Rome...
Today, Wednesday the 15th, my plans are all about indulging my ballet soul. The Teatro dell'Opera di Roma is hosting a gala performance tonight. I am so excited for it. I plan to go in full tutu regalia - just me and my pink twirling! They say it is going to be "A Night at the Opera" like no other - featuring international dancers and incredible choreography. I plan to do a little photoshoot there to showcase my new tutu, so stay tuned for some Instagrammable posts!
I must tell you a secret about today's outing… I plan on having a little tea break at a sweet cafe nearby the Teatro. Their famous "tiramisu ballerina" has been tempting me since I arrived, with delicate meringue and layers of coffee custard. Talk about a little ballerina dream!
