Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! 🇮🇹 (Post 361)
Wednesday, 8th May, 2002
Buongiorno, darlings!
The sun is shining, the air is buzzing with the energy of the Eternal City, and this pink tutu-wearing ballerina is absolutely smitten with Rome! It's my third time visiting this gorgeous city, and every time feels like a new adventure. This week, I'm particularly excited to share some exciting developments - I’ve finally bagged the perfect pink palazzo pants, scored a dreamy ballet dress (more about that later!) and am practically giddy with anticipation about seeing an amazing show tonight at Teatro dell’Opera.
For this trip, I swapped the plane for a swanky train journey - there’s just something about being whisked away on a steam engine through breathtaking countryside that does wonders for my creative spirit. Plus, I can channel my inner Audrey Hepburn with my trusty little wicker picnic basket filled with Italian snacks and a good book. This week, I'm devouring "The Last Dance of the Moors," by my favourite Italian author.
Of course, the moment I stepped off the train in Termini station, I knew I was in for a treat. Rome’s energy is unlike any other place in the world! It's a city that pulsates with life – vibrant, passionate, and effortlessly chic. The smell of freshly brewed coffee, the cacophony of Italian chatter, the sheer history radiating from every cobblestone… Rome never fails to captivate me.
This week’s theme, you ask? Pink-ifying Rome! After all, what’s better than a beautiful, historic city? A beautifully pink one, of course!
Fashion Adventures in Rome
Rome is a paradise for any fashion lover, and let's be honest, for a pink tutu devotee, it's the absolute cat's meow! Every street is a runway, showcasing vibrant fabrics, timeless tailoring, and a dash of artistic flair that's impossible to resist.
This time, I was on the hunt for the perfect pink palazzo pants. Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon a hidden gem tucked away on a cobblestoned street near the Trevi Fountain. A quaint little boutique bursting with bright fabrics and quirky prints. I tried on countless options until, bam! I found them. The perfect shade of pale rose pink, with wide legs and a soft, fluid fabric that swished with every graceful stride. I twirled like a ballerina, just to be sure!
But the real gem of my fashion finds has to be the dreamy ballet dress I discovered. It’s an exquisite shade of peach, with intricate lace details and a swirling skirt that whispers of romantic twirls. It will be the absolute star of the show at Teatro dell’Opera, I just know it.
Tutus at the Trevi Fountain
And let's be real, a trip to Rome isn't complete without visiting the Trevi Fountain. What's a more iconic, Roman landmark? I'll give you a minute to ponder. No, really, don't think too hard. I already know. There's nothing more evocative of the city than the magnificent Trevi Fountain. I’m pretty sure it's on every tourist's itinerary. It's practically a rite of passage, or at least I like to think it is.
So, what's a pink tutu wearing blogger to do when standing in the shadow of this breathtaking marble structure? Spread the Pink Tutu Revolution, of course!
I may have gathered a small audience when I took a twirl around the fountain with my tutu billowing out, tossing a coin over my shoulder, and muttering a heartfelt wish (and of course, it was a pink wish! I’m just a simple soul at heart) for good luck. As I twirled, a group of giggling schoolchildren erupted in applause. I'm pretty sure one little girl was even sporting a tiny pink tutu under her dress! You can't blame me for thinking that perhaps this could be the beginning of a very exciting future.
Mamma Mia! Ballet at Teatro dell’Opera!
My trip to Rome wouldn't be complete without seeing a ballet show at the breathtaking Teatro dell’Opera. This is one of my absolute favorite traditions! There's something utterly magical about the atmosphere - the elegant gowns, the whispers of anticipation, the lights dimming, the velvet seats, the thrill of live music, the pure magic of graceful dance. Tonight, they’re performing "Swan Lake" - I can’t wait! I even picked up a new feather boa in a gorgeous fuchsia colour to really complete my pink-ified look. I plan on posting pics of my fab new find to Instagram.
If you're ever lucky enough to find yourself in Rome, dear readers, take some time to experience the beauty of a ballet performance at Teatro dell’Opera. Just promise you’ll wear pink, for me? (Don't even think of protesting! I am completely relentless and determined!)
Until next time, my lovelies!
With love and tutus, Emma x
