Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday, 2002-09-04 - Bonjour from the Eternal City!

Hello my darling darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Rome, post number 378! Today I'm waltzing straight into the heart of Rome, the city that truly embodies 'la dolce vita', where ancient history whispers secrets through crumbling marble and vibrant gelato smiles tempt at every corner. As I sit here, perched on a wrought iron balcony overlooking the bustling Piazza Navona, I'm already smitten!

My journey started, as usual, with a whizzing train ride from my little Derbyshire corner of the world. It was a slightly blurry trip – I think I was caught up in the pages of Vogue Italia, dreaming of glamorous Roman nights!

Now, for those of you who haven't yet donned a pink tutu and boarded the Pink Tutu Express, let me give you a little update. Remember that dream I had about taking over the world with a pink tutu revolution? It's going brilliantly, with my ballet performances financing these incredible journeys! Tonight, I'll be performing at the Teatro Argentina, a beautiful historic theatre. Talk about being surrounded by history and drama!

Anyway, enough about me for now, back to Rome! As I strolled down the narrow cobblestone streets today, the energy buzzed around me. Roman history unfolded in front of my eyes, from the grand Colosseum – a breathtaking amphitheatre, where gladiators once battled – to the intricate, swirling sculptures of the Pantheon, where whispers of ancient gods echoed through the centuries.

It felt like stepping into a museum brought to life, every street corner revealing another secret gem, another story whispered on the breeze. Even the air in Rome smells of history and jasmine!

And speaking of stories, let me share one with you! You won't believe this, but I managed to snag a gorgeous, vintage Chanel dress at a hidden shop in Trastevere, that gorgeous bohemian area! I simply had to try it on – and let me tell you, darlings, it looked absolutely stunning on.

Of course, a new outfit always requires a perfect setting to be shown off. So, imagine me, twirling through the ruins of the Roman Forum, feeling like a graceful goddess from another era! A pink tutu, a touch of vintage elegance, and the ancient heart of Rome – it was pure magic!

Tomorrow, my darling dears, is going to be a whirlwind! The morning will be spent exploring the Vatican Museums, marveling at Michelangelo’s masterpiece, the Sistine Chapel – and perhaps taking a peek at the Vatican gardens for a little dose of tranquility! Later on, I'm treating myself to a ballet class at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma – imagine, dancing under the Italian sun!

This evening will be filled with music and excitement. The enchanting melodies of Andrea Bocelli, one of Italy’s greatest opera singers, will fill the Teatro dell’Opera tonight, and I'm there, right in the front row, ready to be transported to another world of emotions and melodies!

Stay tuned, darlings, because this Roman adventure has only just begun! I'll be back next Wednesday, bursting with stories and shimmering with inspiration from this incredible city!

Until then, dance your worries away, wear a touch of pink, and embrace the joy of life – just like I do!

Ciao Bella,

Emma
