Ciao, darling! It’s Emma here, and this week’s post finds me waltzing my way through the Eternal City, Rome! It’s been a whirlwind of piazzas, pasta, and of course, endless opportunities for ballet! This Wednesday, I’m embracing my inner Roman goddess, twirling through cobbled streets in my favourite blush pink tutu, and I can’t wait to share all the wonders with you!
Rome is a place that really makes you feel like you’re stepping back in time. Every corner I turn is a new historical masterpiece, a stunning basilica or ancient ruin. But Rome also embraces the modern, and that's what I adore! The fashion is fabulous - I’m seeing so many vibrant colours and playful textures - a real treat for the eyes, and a joy for this ballerina with a love of all things sartorial.
The Train Journey: A Ballerina's Comfort
Rome, I arrived at your magnificent station - Termini - by train, a method of transport I adore! I always pack my tutu carefully and enjoy the peaceful rhythm of the journey, imagining the train tracks as a giant stage. The compartments are perfect for getting into the zone before a performance - I’ve been working on my arabesque to the gentle clickety-clack of the tracks!
Roman Delights: A Food Lover's Dream
Let's talk food! Oh, the glorious food of Rome! I've had pizza so thin it could be held by the finger, spaghetti so delicious I've had to order seconds, and gelato so creamy, it just melts in your mouth! Everything is seasoned with love and a sprinkle of magic – just like a perfect pirouette! I must confess, I've definitely added a few inches to my tutu waistband but it's all worth it for these heavenly delights!
Ballet in the City: A Cultural Odyssey
This week’s trip to Rome has a very special purpose. I've been itching to see what the ballet scene here is like! Today, I'm catching the afternoon performance of The Nutcracker at the Teatro dell'Opera. A beautiful venue with a rich history – the perfect setting for a story filled with dreams and enchantment.
A Little Piece of Pink Paradise: A Shopping Spree
After the performance, I'll be treating myself to some shopping - Rome is a haven for those who love vintage, a true fashion enthusiast's dream! The beautiful silks and exquisite vintage dresses, it's truly inspirational! Of course, I’m keeping an eye out for a new tutu! This trip wouldn’t be complete without a piece of pink paradise for my ballerina wardrobe!
