Ciao, darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another #PinkTutuRome post! This week, I'm bubbling with excitement as I take you all on a journey through the vibrant, history-steeped streets of Rome. Oh, the pasta! The art! The cobblestones! The incredible gelato... everything about Rome has been a symphony of delights, and I can't wait to share it all with you.
Getting Here:
This time, I took the train! Oh, how I love the romantic charm of train travel! The journey itself is an adventure. I'm currently residing in Derbyshire, but I adore a good train trip for inspiration and some time to get lost in my ballet books and my trusty sketch pad. I boarded at Derby Station, feeling like a character in a Parisian romance, a whimsical ballerina venturing into a grand Italian adventure.
The train took me through beautiful countryside, the scenery a delightful blend of green fields and quaint towns. Then, we glided across the breathtaking Alps, and it felt as if I were floating through a grand ballet, every mountain peak an enchanting gesture of grace. It's hard to explain the magic of this type of travel; the journey becomes an integral part of the destination itself. I highly recommend travelling by train if you haven't experienced it before.
Pink in Rome:
And now I'm in Rome! The capital city of Italy, overflowing with art and culture, ancient history and romantic charm, and yes, oh my, such delicious food.
Rome embraced my tutu. Honestly, you can wear just about anything in this city. From priests to tourists, there's a spectrum of outfits that somehow magically come together, creating a kaleidoscope of styles. The air itself buzzes with creative energy, and it's truly infectious.
I actually met another ballerina here in Rome! She's studying at one of the city's many esteemed dance schools. She looked beautiful in her pink tutu, which I thought was just wonderful. We talked about her experiences in the city and about my adventures on the blog. It’s so lovely to connect with other ballet lovers! We even decided to try out a few street performances together tomorrow afternoon. Oh, I can't wait for you all to see our outfits - a mix of street style and balletic grace!
A Day in Pink: Adventures and Gelato!
Yesterday, my day in Rome was a symphony of colours and textures. The morning began with a captivating visit to the Colosseum! Its size and historical significance was breathtaking. I took many photos, envisioning all the incredible performances, both real and mythical, that had occurred within those grand walls. What a stunning testament to Roman grandeur!
Then, it was time to indulge my inner foodie at Trastevere, a charming cobbled street lined with cafes and restaurants. The air was filled with laughter, delicious scents, and the sound of chattering voices – true Italian joie de vivre.
Here, I discovered the most delicious tiramisu ever! (Think a cloud of sweetness and heavenly espresso... you know I just have to have a scoop or two, yes?) Then, after that, my day wasn’t over, and it was time for the ultimate afternoon delight: gelato! A generous serving of pistachio with sprinkles of dark chocolate (all the perfect colors!) topped off my day in style.
Seeing the City Through a Dancer’s Eyes:
Of course, I couldn't go to Rome without venturing into the heart of its theatre culture. Last night, I was captivated by a breathtaking ballet performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. I don’t think I’ve ever been so impressed by a show! The stage was a wonderland of elegance, and the dancers were pure artistry in motion. The colours, the costumes, the choreography, everything was so vibrant! And, the music was sublime! I spent much of the evening sketching out my favourite poses from the show.
I felt so connected to the performers. It's moments like this when I remember that dancing transcends words and cultures, it speaks a language that connects hearts all over the world.

That's just a little peek into my whirlwind adventures in the Eternal City. The energy here is intoxicating! Everywhere you look, you find history breathing in every cobblestone, art whispering from every ancient wall. It's a true paradise for those who appreciate beauty in all its forms, and, of course, my trusty pink tutu!
