Pink Tutu Rome: Post #417 - A Ballerina's Dream in the Eternal City 🩰🇮🇹

Hello my darlings! It's Wednesday, and that means another installment of my Pink Tutu Rome adventures. Today I'm buzzing with excitement as I share with you all the loveliness of Rome - it truly is the most enchanting city.

This week has been filled with breathtaking beauty, a splash of pink (naturally), and an exhilarating amount of sightseeing. Let me tell you, travelling by train from my Derbyshire home to Rome was a real joy. Nothing beats the romance of gliding across the countryside, gazing out the window, and watching the scenery whisk past. It's the perfect opportunity to daydream and jot down all the adventures awaiting me in the capital of Italy.

Roman Rhapsody: Fashion, Food, and Fun!

Rome truly feels like it's sprung out of a fairytale - grand buildings with a dusting of history, cobbled streets buzzing with life, and the most delicious scents wafting from street food vendors. And let's not forget the beautiful Italian people with their charming accents and elegant style. It's truly a haven for a fashion-loving ballerina like myself.

On Monday, I felt so inspired, I went for a wander through the quaint Trastevere district. It’s a charming neighbourhood where pastel-coloured houses huddle together in a tangle of cobblestone streets. Every corner brought me a new delight - whether it was a beautiful hand-crafted Italian handbag or a café spilling out with its delicious smells of freshly brewed coffee. You could spend days just getting lost in the streets of Trastevere and absorbing its magical atmosphere.

My biggest discovery of the day, however, was a fantastic little shop on Via San Francesco a Ripa - a boutique overflowing with pink tutus. It felt like I had stepped into a dancer’s dream! Naturally, I had to try them all on. My favourite? A dreamy lilac pink tulle creation with intricate detailing, perfect for a night at the ballet or for twirling through the streets of Rome. I might need to take this beauty back home with me… just saying!

Stepping onto the Stage:

The real highlight of my week, however, was a performance at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma on Tuesday evening. I got to see a breathtaking performance of Giselle. It was a mesmerising production, the costumes and sets absolutely incredible, and the choreography brought me to tears. The feeling of such pure talent on stage was infectious! It reminded me why I love ballet so much - the graceful movement, the emotion, and the captivating story told through movement.

The day after the performance, I visited the National Roman Museum. It’s truly amazing - you get to wander through grand, marble halls, explore ancient artefacts, and lose yourself in the history of this wonderful city. Seeing the remnants of the Roman Empire right in front of you truly makes you feel connected to the past and inspired by the city's rich history. And who knows, perhaps one day, I'll be featured in a museum too! My tutus and performances have the power to inspire and create something beautiful. It's just a matter of time!

Sharing the Joy:

My trip to Rome wouldn’t be complete without bringing some of the magic home with me to share with all of you. So here’s my latest tip: if you’re planning a trip to Rome, be sure to check out the Gelateria del Teatro! It's a charming gelateria with the most amazing ice cream – try the pistachio, it’s to die for!

And for all my fellow tutudaughters out there, I’ve brought back a few unique Italian fashion finds! Think silk scarves, chic sandals and of course, more tutus, perfect for adding a touch of pink to any outfit!

I'll be sure to keep you posted on all the exciting discoveries to be had in Rome! Stay tuned for more pink adventures from the Eternal City.

Until next week, darling friends, keep twirling!
