#PinkTutuRome: Week 418 - La Dolce Vita in Pink!

Ciao bella! It’s Emma from Derbyshire here, and I’m buzzing to be back with you all today for another fabulous #PinkTutuRome post! It feels like just yesterday I was saying ‘ciao’ to Florence and catching a train to the eternal city. And let me tell you, Rome has been living up to its hype, with cobbled streets, gelato on every corner, and sights that just make you go 'wow!' Plus, with a splash of pink tutu, naturally!

This week’s been a whirl of activity, from exploring the Colosseum – which was simply awe-inspiring, even with the queues (tip: arrive early to avoid the crowds!) – to marvelling at the Vatican City and getting lost in the ancient ruins. I even treated myself to a decadent, strawberry-topped gelato (did I mention the Italians know how to do dessert?) – pure heaven, especially with a cute little Roman chihuahua perched at my feet!

The weather has been just right, sunshine without being too hot, perfect for wandering the streets in a light summer dress and, of course, my signature pink tutu. I swear, the Romans are just mesmerized by it! I’ve even seen a few men wearing their own little versions - I guess the tutu is really taking off all over the world! 😉

Roman Dreams & Dancing Feet

The Romans certainly know how to live! It’s this vibrant, full-of-life energy that draws me in. I love soaking up the history and culture, but let’s face it, shopping is another huge part of any travel experience! 🛍️ Rome doesn’t disappoint on that front either – I've found some divine designer handbags in the heart of the city and a little vintage store tucked away in a charming alley. Let’s just say, my suitcase might need to be checked for excess weight!

But let's be honest, the highlight of this week’s adventures was the amazing ballet performance I saw at the Teatro dell’Opera. The ballet was ‘Giselle’, which I adored! It was just so beautifully executed – a perfect combination of drama and artistry, which resonated with me on a personal level. Honestly, it's experiences like this that really make travel worth it!

The ballet, like everything in Rome, was such a whirlwind of colour, music, and raw emotion. It was truly breathtaking, and it reminded me why I love the art of ballet so much. There's something so graceful and enchanting about it. As I sat there watching, I found myself wanting to twirl and spin – and the next morning, I did exactly that!

I managed to squeeze in a ballet class at one of the city's prestigious dance studios, which was fantastic fun. I'm so happy I managed to find the time for that; I just love keeping up my dancing!

Train Tracks and Pink Dreams

Speaking of ballet, one of the things I’ve really loved about travelling in Italy has been the train journeys. The scenic routes, from the breathtaking landscapes of Tuscany to the charming Tuscan hills, are just wonderful, especially if you’re on a comfy train. I just find the rhythmic clicking of the train wheels a source of pure joy – very therapeutic. Sometimes I sit by the window and just dream, with visions of grand performances in a sparkling pink tutu dancing through my mind…

Speaking of the train, I’m saying ‘arrivederci’ to Rome in a few days, as it’s time for my next adventure - a little secret trip! It’s my next ballet performance that’s funding this next leg, so I’m keeping it a surprise for now!

One thing is for certain, wherever I am, you can bet that pink tutu will be a part of the journey. My mission, as you know, is to inspire everyone to embrace their own pink tutu - to dance with life, to embrace their own unique style and to create a little magic wherever they go! 💖
