Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! (Blog Post #432)

Wednesday, September 17th, 2003

Ciao bella! It’s Emma here, your pink tutu-wearing blogger, landing back in Rome after a whirlwind adventure exploring the Eternal City! It’s been an absolutely divine week, filled with culture, delicious food, and enough gorgeousness to make even the most seasoned fashionista swoon!

This week's post is extra special because it marks a new milestone in my quest to conquer the world, one pink tutu at a time! As you all know, my dream is to spread the pink tutu revolution, showing everyone that life's too short to be boring, and tutus are the ultimate symbol of whimsy and joy! So, it only seems fitting that I dedicate this post to all things Italian, from the flamboyant street style to the romantic cobblestone alleys.

Rome was a dream come true! This enchanting city, full of history, beauty and that distinct Italian je ne sais quoi, totally stole my heart. This city knows how to dress! The locals ooze an effortless charm and elegance, with colours and patterns that just scream ‘fashion capital’. And let’s be honest, a good Italian gelato deserves a pink tutu, am I right? 😉

Train Tracks and Tutu Tales

Now, I know some of you might be thinking, “How does she do it?” Well, my lovelies, the secret is simple – a dash of planning, a generous helping of positive vibes, and a willingness to chase those pink-tutu dreams! I funded this trip with some special ballet performances back in Derbyshire, where my ballerina life truly flourishes! And, of course, the train is my loyal companion, a rolling art gallery where I get to showcase my latest tutu creation (it's a fuchsia masterpiece with emerald green embellishments! You'll just have to wait for the pics, darling!).

Rome’s Magic and Must-Sees

It’s tough to choose a highlight when everything in Rome was simply fabulous, but I have to give a shout out to my most memorable moments!

Firstly, I absolutely fell in love with the Trevi Fountain. Its grand beauty just made my heart skip a beat. Tossing a coin over your shoulder for a wish feels so iconic! I threw three in, darling! One for more travel, one for even more fabulous tutus, and one for all you lovely lot reading this. Let's hope they work their magic!

Then, the Pantheon. This historical masterpiece, with its iconic dome and exquisite details, made me realise the sheer power and artistry of humanity. I could spend days exploring the art and history of the Eternal City. It’s a history lover's paradise!

From Ancient Rome to Ballet Shows and Pink Tutus

Now, no trip to Rome would be complete without a trip to the Colosseum! Walking amongst those ancient ruins filled with the echoes of the past was a thrilling experience! Just try to imagine all the lives that played out in that space centuries ago - amazing, isn't it? I tried my best to strike a heroic pose for a selfie (in my, of course, pink tutu!), but alas, my photographer was less than enthusiastic! You just have to love the passion for tutus that surrounds me, darlings. 😄

One of the highlights was definitely experiencing the Opera. Now, you know how much I love live performance! To witness that passion, emotion, and raw talent live on stage... it simply made my heart sing! The soaring music, the breathtaking costumes, it was pure magic! Of course, I made sure I added my own touch of magic, pairing a glittering silver tutu with a navy velvet top. A subtle nod to the classic elegance of Italian opera. You’re welcome, Rome! 😘

Delicious Adventures & Fashion Inspiration

Speaking of elegance, Italian style is simply divine. I was completely mesmerised by the colourful fabrics, chic silhouettes, and sophisticated fashion everywhere. From high-end boutiques on Via Condotti to street-style fashion, it's all a captivating visual feast.

My heart almost stopped when I discovered this little independent tutu shop hidden amongst the narrow streets! (Seriously, who would have guessed there's a tutu shop tucked away in the heart of Rome?! A testament to my tutu-loving intuition, darling.) Let's just say my bank account felt the love, but it was all worth it, and my tutu collection is a little more fabulous than before! (A vibrant coral number with sparkling accents... can you tell I love a good bargain?)

And the food...oh the food! Pizza and pasta like I’ve never tasted before! I've been indulging in deliciousness around every corner! Don't worry, my dear followers, I'm working it off with some ballet classes (always time for pirouettes!). My tutu needs a little space to move after all the feasting! I discovered a quaint ballet studio tucked away in Trastevere - such a romantic part of Rome, full of charming cobblestone alleyways and bustling restaurants. And let me tell you, my, darling, those ballet studios - they know how to pick their locations. Just breathtaking!

Goodbye Rome, Hello to My Pink Tutu Future!

I'm writing this as I board the train back home, my heart brimming with memories of Rome's magic and charm. Every journey fills me with fresh inspiration, from the fashion to the food, the sights to the sounds - it’s a true feast for the senses. And don’t forget, each one of those trips gets me one step closer to spreading that pink tutu message! I'm already planning my next adventure (think Paris, darling, always a good idea!), but before that, it’s time for some well-deserved pampering and tutu maintenance!

Stay tuned next week, my sweet followers, for a fashion post filled with tips on how to create your own fabulous tutu looks. It’s all about that fabulous, fun, feminine spirit! Remember, if life gives you a chance to wear a pink tutu - take it!

And until next Wednesday, keep dancing!

Ciao Bella, Emma xxx
