Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2003-09-24 - A Ballerina's Dream in the Eternal City! (Blog Post #433)
Buongiorno from Rome, my darlings! It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means – time for another Pink Tutu Rome adventure! Today’s post is overflowing with the charm and colour of the Eternal City.
Oh my goodness, this week has been pure magic! It all started with my favourite form of travel: the train! A beautiful, high-speed train journey through the rolling countryside of Italy, I had a whole carriage to myself and a seat right next to a window! I even popped on a ballet performance on my laptop while we zoomed along – my daily ballet fix is never compromised. It was so calming, so glamorous, like a scene straight from a fairytale!
Speaking of fairytales, arriving in Rome was like stepping into one! The architecture, the ancient streets, the vibrant squares, the atmosphere… every corner seems to be whispering with history. I think this is the perfect place to celebrate the sheer joy of being alive. Of course, it wasn’t just the scenery that took my breath away, although it definitely did that too! I managed to sneak in a little fashion fix in my favourite store, one full of pretty fabrics, sparkly beads and whimsical dresses. You just have to find the perfect pink fabric to make my latest, and very Italian, tutu – because darling, you know pink tutus are essential when you’re travelling, it’s not only a sartorial statement, it’s an expression of joy and magic, a promise to spread sparkle everywhere you go!
I absolutely adore discovering new places. Each corner holds a new delight. There's such an amazing energy in Rome. It's exciting, enchanting, and full of the kind of spirit that makes me want to twirl and shout! But honestly, who doesn’t feel the need to twirl in Rome?
The sun was shining so brightly yesterday, the sky so unbelievably blue, I took advantage of it and took a long, leisurely stroll down Via Condotti! The beautiful shop windows filled with luxury fashion houses and high-end labels made it feel like a dream! Every shop window held a tiny stage for an amazing collection of haute couture. Oh, to be rich and to spend all my time just indulging in all these beauties. Of course, you can’t visit Italy and NOT indulge in some of its wonderful gelato! I had a little moment to myself, sitting under a beautiful pergola in the sunshine, a strawberry and hazelnut scoop in one hand and a pink rose petal ice cream cone in the other! You would be shocked at how much I’m enjoying being able to eat everything and not feel an ounce of guilt. Being on holiday, having my favourite pink tutu on and spending a few happy hours dancing around in a fabulous outfit always makes me happy! It feels like all my hard work in Derbyshire pays off when I get to indulge myself in all these delights.
Yesterday evening was a night of elegance. I went to the beautiful Teatro dell'Opera di Roma for a stunning ballet performance. Oh, darling! This is one of the things I truly love most about my travels. Seeing ballet in different cities, and different theatres – it's like seeing a new perspective on the same wonderful art form. There was just something about the theatre itself that made the whole evening so very magical. The grandeur of the space, the velvet seats, the hush that fell as the lights went down and the dancers stepped out to take their bows – it was spellbinding! There were swans and waltzes and the dancing was simply divine, making my heart sing with delight!
You see, every ballet I attend, every piece of fabric I choose, every city I explore, it’s a way for me to share this feeling with the world. It’s my little mission to get everyone twirling, to spread that feeling of wonder and enchantment and to let the world know that life is always more beautiful when you embrace the joy of being YOU, especially if it involves wearing a pink tutu. Don't forget, I'm constantly posting pictures and updating my website – come and say hello and let's spread some pink tutu joy together! Don’t forget, life is meant to be danced! And even better if it’s danced in a pink tutu. Ciao for now!
