Pink Tutu Rome: Post #452 – A Fairytale of a Wednesday in Rome!

Ciao, darlings! It's Wednesday, and you know what that means... a brand new Pink Tutu Rome post! This week, I've been twirling my way through the Eternal City, soaking up the Roman sun and discovering the secret wonders hidden in its dusty corners.

Train Tracks and Tiaras:

As a Derbyshire girl at heart, there's something utterly romantic about train journeys. So naturally, my week began with a thrilling trip from Florence to Rome. I’d booked my ticket ages ago, and I couldn't resist adding a splash of colour to my ensemble, pairing a fuchsia satin bomber jacket with a soft pink tulle tutu and, of course, my trusty ballet pumps.

When I arrived, Rome was draped in a gentle mist, giving everything a slightly dreamy quality. The train station bustled with life, everyone chattering away in Italian, their accents sounding like beautiful melodies. The air crackled with anticipation and adventure, and it felt like my own fairytale had just begun.

A Morning with the Colosseum

The following morning, I couldn’t resist visiting the Colosseum. What an incredible structure! It’s even more breathtaking in person, a monumental reminder of the grandeur of ancient Rome. As I walked around the arena, I could almost feel the roar of the crowd, the scent of sweat, and the clash of swords as gladiators fought for their lives. My tutu seemed almost comical, yet its vibrant colour stood out beautifully against the weathered stone, reminding me of the resilience and beauty found in things old and new.

Fashion and Frivolity on Via Condotti

No visit to Rome would be complete without a little retail therapy, so of course, I ventured down the famed Via Condotti. Now, you'll all be happy to know that PINK is HUGE here in Rome! It's practically the colour of choice for all the fabulous women here. I spied everything from blush pink jumpsuits to pastel pink Gucci purses. I actually felt a bit like I was in a giant candy shop for high fashion. The best bit was stumbling upon this little boutique bursting with the most delightful accessories and jewellery - I even found the most adorable little pink bow for my hair that I couldn't resist.

Dinner with a View at the Spanish Steps

As the sun began to set, casting the city in warm hues, I settled down for a truly delightful dinner at one of the cafes overlooking the Spanish Steps. Every mouthful tasted like a symphony of Italian flavours. I could just imagine all the amazing moments that had unfolded in this historic spot. It felt like being part of a glamorous old movie scene.

Ballet Bliss at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma

Tonight’s performance was at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, a breathtaking neo-classical opera house dating back to 1880. I opted for a graceful ivory tulle tutu with a blush-pink ribbon, which I felt matched the opulence of the venue perfectly.

The evening’s ballet was a classic rendition of "Giselle." Every move was an explosion of emotion and precision, a beautiful story woven into the language of dance. It filled me with a sense of wonder and grace. Afterwards, I enjoyed a leisurely glass of Italian wine under the twinkling night sky, reflecting on the magic of Rome and the exquisite ballet.

Final Thoughts

Rome has captured my heart. This city is an intoxicating mix of history, fashion, and pure passion. It is a place where time seems to stand still, where beauty whispers in every corner, and where, dare I say it, the pink tutu fits in perfectly!

I'm curious, darlings - what would you be most excited to do in Rome? Tell me all about it in the comments! And be sure to join me next week for another Pink Tutu Rome adventure, filled with even more twirling and laughter. Until then, Ciao Bella!
