Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! 🩰🇮🇹 (Post #482)

Wednesday 1st September 2004

Buongiorno from Rome, my lovelies! ☀️ This week, Pink Tutu is waltzing into the Eternal City! I'm finally fulfilling my dream of dancing my way through Italy, and you can bet your bottom dollar (or should I say, euro?) that my trusty pink tutu is along for the ride!

It’s Wednesday, which means a brand new post for www.pink-tutu.com! I’m so excited to be sharing all my Italian adventures with you. You'll have to forgive me if some of my Italian is a bit, shall we say, rusty – it's been a while since I last tackled "Buon giorno, bella!" But fear not, I'm ready to learn all the Italian words for "gorgeous!" and "where can I find more tulle?".

Speaking of tulle, this trip wouldn’t be possible without my trusty travel tutu. You see, darling, funding my fabulous journeys requires a little creativity. I’m a firm believer that you can dance your way to anything! So I perform whenever and wherever I can, filling up the tip jar at ballet shows, teaching ballet street workshops, even the occasional flash mob on a London tube platform. It’s a whole lot of fun and lets me follow my tutu-clad heart!

And speaking of London... sigh you know I miss my home in Derbyshire. The countryside is absolutely divine in Autumn with all the beautiful leaves changing colours. There’s nothing quite like it, though I do adore a good Italian gelato. Maybe I’ll open a Pink Tutu Gelato bar! Think delicate rose petal ice cream topped with sparkly sugar and miniature meringue tutus! I’ve already started sketching my menu!

But back to Rome, darling! Today is all about exploring the historical heart of this captivating city! I’m starting with a visit to the Colosseum. Imagine, it was built by hand all those years ago! How I love to stand and soak in the history, the atmosphere... even with a million tourists! And it's so fitting, considering the grandeur of Roman culture! We all know what they say... "All the world's a stage." and this theatre of history just breathes magic.

I'll be waltzing my way through the city all week, taking in everything from the breathtaking Vatican to the artistic wonders of the Borghese Gallery, stopping by the designer shops along the way for a spot of tutu-inspired shopping! Let's just say, Rome's Fashion District has given me some serious sartorial inspiration. The vintage finds I’ve found! And you know what? I found a dress in the deepest shade of pink that I can't wait to wear at the opera tomorrow! Oh, it’s a pink dreamscape.

There's so much to explore! I’ve already devoured an obscene amount of pizza (it’s simply divine!), had a decadent pasta lunch, and my favourite so far, have witnessed a glorious sunset over the Forum from my hotel balcony! I must tell you, the whole city is steeped in romance.

Speaking of romance, I did bump into the cutest little café last night. I’m totally swooning over this little cafe on Via dei Condotti! Oh, it’s just utterly charming! With its gorgeous little patio adorned with pink rose petals and a tiny stage where local artists performed live classical music. And as I watched, they brought out an oversized pink ballerina doll for their display. sighs Talk about destiny! I practically danced through the doors! And their hot chocolate is heavenly! I shall definitely be a regular!

Don't forget, you can follow all of my Rome adventures and Pink Tutu ramblings on www.pink-tutu.com - join me on a trip filled with sparkles and "Mamma Mia!"s

Until next Wednesday, darlings! Stay beautiful!

Yours in pink tulle,

Emma xx
