#PinkTutuRome - Wednesday 2005-03-16 - Exploring Eternal Beauty! 💖🇮🇹🩰

Hey everyone! It's Emma, your favourite pink tutu-clad travel blogger, and welcome back to #PinkTutuRome, my weekly diary of adventures in this magnificent city! Today's post is number 510, which is frankly bonkers, as it means I've been chronicling my travels for, wait for it...almost a decade! 😲 Honestly, time flies when you're twirling around cobbled streets and stuffing your face with pasta!

Today is all about delving into Rome's cultural gems - think grand piazzas, captivating art, and perhaps a little indulgence in the world of haute couture. But before I unleash a tsunami of Roman delights on you, let's get down to business - that business being my mission to bring the joy of pink tutus to every corner of the world! 😉

For the uninitiated, #PinkTutuRome is all about showing that travelling doesn't have to be stuffy or serious - it can be as much fun as a pirouette in a pink tutu! I'm talking colour, sparkle, and the freedom to embrace every experience with childlike wonder. You'll often find me at a ballet performance or a swanky fashion show (both of which I fund through my ballet performances, thank you very much!). But even if you're not a tutu aficionado, I hope you can find a bit of inspiration in my ramblings and embrace a touch of whimsical flair in your own travels.

Speaking of whimsical flair, did I mention Rome is dripping with it?

This week, I started my day by strolling through Piazza Navona – one of the most beautiful squares I’ve ever seen. The fountains and the Baroque architecture? Stunning. I'm telling you, the fountains could easily feature in a ballet, especially the Trevi Fountain, just across the way - oh my! Its magnificence left me breathless, especially as I tossed in my coin, wishing for even more incredible travel adventures (you never know!).

But Rome wasn’t built in a day (or a ballet), and my exploration took me through the charming backstreets, where I found a little vintage shop crammed full of treasures. I couldn't resist picking up a few lovely pieces - a scarf for my Grandma and a delicate chain for my Mum (just for being my Mum, obviously!). You're never far from a quirky surprise in Rome - just the type of whimsy I love!

Come evening, I was off to the opera, a production of Tosca at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. Of course, my choice of outfit was a gorgeous pink tulle number, accented by a black satin bodice - my trusty black pointe shoes, of course, rounded off the whole look. Let's just say I definitely turned some heads! And as for the opera? Magnificent! It transported me right into the heart of the performance with every note, every dramatic movement.

Later on, my evening led me through a whirlwind of Rome's vibrant nightlife. There's nothing like a taste of Italy's food scene, especially a leisurely pasta dinner on a beautiful terrace - my favourite! I had the most divine rigatoni alla carbonara.

Did I tell you that I love to take trains? (As any good ballet dancer should!). A journey by train is a dance, truly, watching the landscape pass by like a performance of its own. You just can’t beat that window seat, feeling the rumble of the engine and watching as one scenery melds into the next. A perfect day.

This week in #PinkTutuRome was a total whirlwind! So much inspiration - I could just about burst! The energy of this city has a real effect, like stepping into a time machine, or perhaps onto a stage, the whole place has such vibrant energy and artistic spirit. The stories on every corner, the art in the smallest shops, even the ancient ruins on every corner tell a story - it makes it really easy to get lost in all that romantic beauty.

I'm just going to let the pictures speak for themselves this time! But promise me, dear readers, you’ll come back next week. Until then, don't forget - spread a little pink tutu magic wherever you go!

Keep twirling, Emma xx
