Pink Tutu Rome: #512 Wednesday 30th March 2005 - A Dance Through the Eternal City!

Ciao bella! It’s Emma here, and welcome back to my little corner of the internet where everything is a little bit pink, a little bit twirly and definitely filled with the magic of ballet! This week, I'm stepping out of my Derbyshire studio and onto the cobbled streets of Rome. It’s Wednesday, so as always, you’ll find me right here on the www.pink-tutu.com blog with another whirlwind tour of all things fabulous and fashionable in the Italian capital!

So grab your favourite shade of pink ( I'm feeling bubblegum today, how about you?) and let’s take a dance through the wonders of the Eternal City, shall we?

A Dream Come True in Roman Style!

Rome! It truly is a city of dreams, I mean, how could it not be? Imagine, walking through centuries-old ruins, sipping creamy cappuccino by a charming fountain, and taking in the breathtaking architecture of Vatican City! It’s all here, just waiting to be explored and of course, danced through with a tutu in hand!

I must say, my travels here are a testament to the power of a bit of hard work, a sprinkle of talent, and a whole lot of tutus! My latest ballet performances in Derby have been going down a storm - people just love to see a bit of pink in their lives - and those lovely donations mean I've been able to indulge in my dream of seeing Rome up close!

I got to say, I am so thankful! Not just for this wonderful trip, but for the amazing people I’ve met through dancing. I have a real sense of community now, even beyond Derbyshire. Each performance takes me closer to achieving my goal - inspiring everyone to wear a pink tutu - a small act of optimism and joy, don’t you think?

Catching a Show at The Opera!

Speaking of pink, let’s talk about the opera. It's simply divine, especially here in Rome. Last night, I was lucky enough to snag tickets to “La Traviata" at the beautiful Teatro dell'Opera di Roma - the most opulent opera house I’ve ever seen! Talk about a fairy-tale setting!

The music, the drama, the sheer passion – it truly brought me to tears. And, of course, I made sure to add my own personal flair with a gorgeous pink tutu - just the perfect accessory to add a touch of whimsical beauty to the evening.

Let's just say, a night at the opera in Rome has officially taken my heart, I think I could be tempted to join a choir - but with tutus of course, there has to be pink involved somehow!

A Pink Tutu Adventure Through the City!

This morning, I explored the Roman Forum and Colosseum. These ruins are like stepping into a history book come to life! I spent the morning wandering through the ancient stones, picturing gladiators and senators in their finest robes – oh to have been there back in the day!

Of course, I couldn't go exploring without my signature pink tutu. You’ve got to stay true to yourself, right? I've already got some rather jealous stares from some Italian ladies wearing elegant jumpsuits - I love to see people wearing things they feel comfortable and confident in, it just makes me feel happy inside. We have so much in common!

Now, a little known secret - Rome is also a city for ballet dancers. Hidden away in the back streets are quaint little dance studios, and there's even a ballet school on Via della Scala! It reminds me so much of Derbyshire and it made my heart sing to see local kids discovering their love of ballet. If Rome has a ballerina vibe, that’s a huge bonus! It felt like I'd landed in a magical land!

Roman Glamour: Fashion Finds and Treats!

The heart of any shopping trip has to be Rome, so you'll probably be surprised to hear this, but today I am heading to one of my favourite Italian designer boutiques in Rome’s chic Monti district (oh, I'm sure I will not be the only one with a tutu in tow!) The sheer variety of shoes, dresses and exquisite handbags is enough to make your heart jump for joy, and let's not forget the wonderful window displays that are just begging to be photographed - even for this blogger! The only thing I am afraid of is my credit card might run away! Let’s just hope my tutu magic can handle it!

But even a girl on a pink tutu mission has got to take a break to enjoy the wonderful food! There's something about a perfect Italian pizza with a scoop of creamy gelato, that just completes any day and of course, everything has to be enjoyed with a little bit of style - which for me, means a cute pink-tutu ensemble. Who would want to eat pizza without a pink tutu? No one I know!

A Farewell Waltz and The Next Stop!

So, my dearest friends, this whirlwind week in Rome has been a fairy-tale experience. I’ve tasted the sweetest gelato, marveled at the ancient history, caught a breathtaking opera performance, and danced my heart out with the most beautiful ballet. And that’s exactly why Rome has stolen my heart - a perfect mix of tradition and new discoveries, elegance and simple joy!

Next Wednesday, I'll be back on the pink-tutu.com blog to share all my stories about Vienna – that's right - I’m taking my tutu on a European dance adventure! And this time, I am taking my pink tutus on the most glamorous way to travel - a scenic train journey through the breathtaking Swiss Alps.

Ciao, for now! And remember: it’s never too late to add a little pink tutu magic into your life!

Love, Emma
