Pink Tutu Rome #521: Ciao Bella!
Wednesday, 1st June 2005
Rome. Oh, Rome! The city of love, romance, gelato and, of course, amazing fashion. I landed in this beautiful Italian city this morning, after a wonderful train journey through the French countryside. The train carriage was filled with chatter, laughter and the delicious aroma of croissants, coffee and the most exquisite perfume I’ve ever smelt - all contributing to the most delightful and charming travel experience! I always find train journeys to be a true delight, and this one was no exception.
It's Wednesday, which means it’s Pink Tutu Rome day! Every Wednesday, I like to share my adventures in Rome with you. I’m excited to share all my new discoveries with you lovely people. It's been a whirlwind of a few days so far, but I'm eager to share every detail, from the divine pasta to the enchanting views of the city.
But before we dive into all the Roman goodness, let me introduce myself! I’m Emma, your friendly neighborhood pink tutu wearing ballerina, with a passion for exploring the world, ballet, fashion and, of course, the most beautiful color - pink! You'll find me performing at local ballet events to fund my travels, and sharing my adventures through this very blog, right here on www.pink-tutu.com . My dream is to get everyone to wear a pink tutu, one city at a time, so I hope you're ready to get inspired and spread the pink tutu love!
My Roman Adventures - Day 1 & 2:
Landing in Rome, I was instantly captivated by the city’s energy. A gentle breeze carrying the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and baked bread filled the air, along with a contagious excitement and bustling life, as soon as I stepped out of the station. It felt like stepping into a scene from a classic Italian film - vibrant, beautiful, and with an unmistakable charm.
A Stylish Encounter:
Just outside the station, I stumbled upon a quaint little boutique, overflowing with stunning Italian fashions. You can imagine the sheer delight that swept over me. With every item I saw, my eyes lit up. The clothing was an ode to the Italian fashion sense - a blend of chic and stylish, perfect for creating outfits that exuded elegance and grace. I indulged in a beautiful, bright pink cashmere cardigan that is already proving to be the star of my Roman wardrobe. I mean, who can resist the luxurious feel of cashmere and the beautiful shade of pink?!
Exploring the Timeless Treasures:
Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without a visit to the Colosseum! A sight that will truly stay with you long after you’ve seen it. The sheer size, the age, and the history surrounding the Colosseum left me mesmerised. Standing amidst those ancient walls, I could almost imagine the gladiators clashing, the crowd cheering, and the echoes of centuries gone by resonating through the very air I was breathing. It truly is a spectacle that has to be experienced!
A Touch of Pink & Grace:
This evening, I joined a delightful ballet class at a local dance studio tucked away in a quiet, charming cobblestone alleyway. We had such a fabulous time; the studio was filled with sunshine and energy, and my teacher was such a wonderful and inspiring woman. There's nothing quite like a ballet class to end a long, exciting day exploring this city of wonder! I feel energized, inspired and so happy!
An Evening of Delight:
And of course, my Roman adventure wouldn't be complete without some delightful dining. Rome is known for its food, and it didn't disappoint! This evening, I indulged in the most divine plate of pasta, prepared by a local family. I ate in a traditional family-owned trattoria, enjoying the authentic tastes of Roman cuisine with warm smiles, friendly chatter, and an incredible selection of delicious wines. I ended the day by taking a leisurely stroll along the banks of the Tiber River, breathing in the fresh air and the romantic charm of this ancient city, under the starlit sky.
Tomorrow:
Tomorrow's schedule is overflowing with delights! It includes a visit to the Vatican, to discover more of the beauty and history of this remarkable city, with some shopping along the way of course. Perhaps a visit to another family owned bakery or a delicatessen to grab the tastiest lunch treats and maybe some amazing bread and sweet treats. Then, I'm planning on enjoying an opera performance - I hear it's breathtakingly beautiful, full of emotion and grandeur! So much for you all!
Stay tuned,
I'll be sharing more of my Roman adventure throughout the week!
Until next Wednesday, XOXO,
Emma.
