Well, darlings, it's Wednesday, which means it's time for another pink tutu travel adventure! Today I'm bursting with excitement because, guess what?! I'm in Rome! The Eternal City, the city of love, the city of pasta (and who doesn't love pasta? 😉), the city... of pink tutus? 🩰 Well, maybe not yet, but I'm certainly doing my part!
This trip, dear readers, was a little different from my usual. You know me, usually I'm hopping on a train to somewhere in Europe, my trusty tutu and suitcase in tow, all set for a ballet extravaganza. But this time, it was a special performance at a fabulous venue in Rome. Remember when I told you about being cast in a "Cirque de la Danse" show? Well, it was here! The chance to showcase my talent under the Roman sun, the incredible energy of this ancient city surrounding me? Heaven!
Speaking of the sun, Rome has been absolutely glorious! Sun-kissed streets, delicious smells wafting from charming trattorias, and those incredible views – every corner is a photo opportunity! Of course, I wouldn't be true to myself without a sparkly pink tutu moment (or three!) against the backdrop of the Colosseum! Imagine it - a vision in pink against such powerful historical beauty. Truly magical, darlings.
Let me tell you, the locals are lovely! Everyone's so warm and friendly. I think my bright pink tutu and enthusiastic "Ciao bella!" has certainly made some new friends. 😉 The gelato, darling! Just heavenly. Imagine creamy, fruity flavours with an exquisite crunch of pistachios, a symphony of taste sensations, and of course, a dash of pink sprinkled on top – perfection!
Of course, no visit to Rome is complete without a dose of culture, so I had to squeeze in a visit to the Vatican. You just can’t be in Rome without being awed by the incredible beauty of St. Peter’s Basilica. Imagine intricate details, magnificent frescoes, a feeling of pure awe as you walk through the sacred spaces. And let me tell you, this was a great setting for a little photo-op with my pink tutu. I mean, who wouldn't love a little sprinkle of colour in such a monumental place? It truly highlighted the sheer power and beauty of the surroundings!
You wouldn’t believe the adventures I've been having since arriving here last weekend, from stumbling upon a hidden street market overflowing with vintage fashion to spotting the cutest pair of pink ballet shoes tucked away in a little boutique – just imagine a classic, elegant pink shoe with a sprinkle of glitter, the kind you just want to wear with a perfect, pink tulle skirt! You know me, I had to add it to my collection.
I've been taking every opportunity to soak up the culture, from watching street performers showcase their talents with an energy that truly ignites your soul to stumbling upon breathtaking ancient Roman ruins tucked away amongst modern-day buildings, their weathered beauty standing as a testament to history's embrace.
Now, I've got to admit, a part of me can't resist indulging in the city's endless culinary delights. Each mouthful feels like a dream – from perfectly al dente pasta bathed in the rich aroma of fresh tomato sauce to crispy Roman pizza and the delicate taste of authentic Italian tiramisu, with each mouthful a burst of happiness. Even the food looks magical, with vibrant greens and luscious red sauces – it's art on your plate!
