Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2005-08-10 - La Dolce Vita in Pink!

Ciao Bella! It's Emma here, back from another whirlwind adventure. This week, we're whisking ourselves off to the heart of the Eternal City - Rome! It's the perfect place for a Pink Tutu girl to explore - filled with history, romance, and enough stunning fashion inspiration to fill a whole season of shows! (Remember to head over to www.pink-tutu.com for the latest blog updates, they're posted every Wednesday).

This is post number 531 - can you believe it?! I feel like we've been on this pink tutu adventure forever. Speaking of forever, this trip is all about embracing the "dolce vita" - that delicious Italian way of life. From savouring pasta al fresco under the Tuscan sun to sipping cappuccino at a cafรฉ while watching the world go by, I'm embracing the leisurely pace and letting the city's charm weave its magic on me.

And speaking of charm, I had to find the perfect pink outfit to celebrate! A shimmering blush-toned silk dress with a floaty, whimsical silhouette - like a pink petal dancing in the wind. And naturally, no outfit is complete without my favourite pink tutu! Today's choice is a delightful tulle confection, layered with ruffles and topped with a delicate satin bow. This is Italy after all, the land of drama and elegance, and this little number is ready to embrace both.

Rome welcomed me with open arms and a vibrant symphony of sights and sounds. First up - the Colosseum! The imposing structure is a masterpiece of Roman architecture and a testament to their incredible skill. I spent hours wandering around the arena, imagining gladiators clashing swords in its shadow. And of course, a ballet performance came to mind! Picture a swirling "Spartacus" ballet performed in the Colosseum, with costumes and movements inspired by the gladiators. Now that's an extravaganza worthy of this historical gem!

From Imperial Splendor to Fashion Extravaganza

After absorbing all that Roman history, I needed a little retail therapy - something the city excels at. Imagine a shopping spree through Roman streets teeming with designer boutiques, artisan shops, and vibrant markets! From haute couture to vintage treasures, the Italian capital has a distinct flair and exquisite craftsmanship that speaks to every sartorial soul. I treated myself to a gorgeous silk scarf with intricate embroidery, a leather handbag in a shade of crimson so deep it practically sings, and a pair of slinky gold earrings that would make any Roman goddess jealous.

Ballet in the City of Love

Rome is not just about ancient ruins and luxurious shopping sprees. It's a city that lives and breathes, filled with art, culture, and passionate hearts. And what's more passionate than ballet? My ballet research unearthed a hidden gem - the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. Now this is no ordinary theater. The Opera house is grand, with a dramatic, velvet-swathed auditorium, and they have a magnificent schedule! I just know I'm going to fall in love with one of these operas! It might even inspire my next dance choreography!

Of course, no trip to Italy is complete without indulging in the country's exquisite cuisine. I devoured plates of pasta, pizza, and the most delicious gelato you can imagine! A taste of Italian sunshine on my tongue.

Dancing into the Italian Night

I love travelling by train - its a window into the soul of the countryside! This journey through the Italian heartland has been especially enchanting! The landscape swirls with hillsides dusted with wildflowers, charming villages dotted with ancient stone houses, and vines stretching skyward, all illuminated in the glow of the setting sun.

This week is all about living the dolce vita in pink. Rome, you are truly captivating, and I can't wait for our next chapter!

Until next week, darlings, keep twirling in pink,

Emma xoxo
