Buongiorno, darlings! It’s your favourite tutu-wearing traveller, Emma, back with another week’s adventures from the eternal city. Rome is such a whirlwind of vibrant energy, glorious history, and oh, the FOOD! 🤌 Every day feels like a ballet, with graceful cobbled streets, stunning architecture, and the music of laughter and chatter always in the air. I am living the true La Dolce Vita!
This week’s Pink Tutu Rome adventure took me to the grand Colosseum. You just have to picture me, swirling in my fuschia pink tulle tutu with its delicate sequined trim (from the Emporium boutique, a must-visit if you are here!), against the mighty backdrop of this ancient marvel. Honestly, I think it added a touch of feminine whimsy to this historic landmark! I imagine Roman gladiators gawking at my tutus if they were alive today.
Fashion is ALWAYS a priority in Rome, and the boutiques here are heaven! From elegant leather shops selling the most beautiful shoes to tiny ateliers filled with hand-crafted jewellery, there's something to enchant every sartorial sense. I’m just itching to take you all on a shopping spree through Rome's best kept secrets. Maybe one day soon!
I spent an evening enjoying a truly decadent Italian dinner, indulging in spaghetti alla carbonara and a rich tiramisu, all while surrounded by the buzz of conversation and laughter. Of course, no outing is complete without a little ballet-inspired fun! My blush pink, sparkly ballet flats from Clarks were perfect for dancing the night away in my little cafe-corner!
Oh, and let's not forget the art scene! I finally managed to visit the Borghese Gallery, home to Bernini's "Apollo and Daphne" sculpture - talk about pure grace in marble!
This past weekend was even more fantastico. It was the Festa di Ferragosto, Rome’s August holiday celebrating the Assumption of Mary! The whole city came alive with colour, music, and dancing, and even a spectacular fireworks display over the Colosseum! Honestly, I don't know what's more beautiful, the fireworks, or a pink tutu under a sky filled with stars.
Speaking of beauty, this week has reminded me that the best accessory is always confidence. And a pink tutu never hurts! So keep on twirling, darlings!
