Pink Tutu Rome #554 - Wednesday, 18th January 2006: La Dolce Vita, Roman Style!

Ciao bella! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another dose of Pink Tutu Travels, and this week I'm bringing you all the glitz and glamour of… Rome! Yep, this week I’ve swapped Derbyshire for the Eternal City and let me tell you, I’m living my best life!

I love taking the train - it’s always an adventure! Especially the Eurostar – you feel so cosmopolitan! This time, though, I'm coming at you live from a rather grand, but wonderfully worn in, apartment overlooking the Colosseum. You see, I like to immerse myself in local culture.

And the thing about Rome is…it's just pinktastic! From the pastel buildings to the charming squares, it feels like a fairytale come true, but one where every single person is stylish. Forget those dreary jeans and jumpers I see so often in Derbyshire! Roman women know what’s up. It’s all about classic lines, vibrant colour and beautiful, flowing fabrics. Naturally, I've already stocked up on some incredible pieces at the vintage markets - think exquisite scarves and those lovely billowing blouses that make you feel like a graceful Grecian goddess!

Now, you may think that travelling as a ballerina with a love of pink might be tricky, but let me tell you, I’ve mastered it! Last night, I found the most incredible little shop – an Aladdin's Cave of exquisite silk, feathers and sequins! I managed to snag a perfect little cocktail dress, which, of course, I topped with my signature pink tutu. Let's be real, a pink tutu goes with everything.

And speaking of everything, you guys just wouldn't believe the dance scene here! There's this little dance school I found hidden in the heart of Trastevere, tucked away in an ancient palazzo. The cobbled street was filled with a cacophony of tap shoes and laughter. I actually caught a private lesson on Monday with a phenomenal teacher! It was like something straight out of a classic film, all balletic artistry with a hint of Roman passion!

My favourite place so far has to be the Piazza Navona. It’s so beautifully decorated and all the street performers are amazing! I actually caught the most breathtaking ballerina dancing right on the cobbles, dressed in a pale pink, gossamer gown. She moved with the fluidity of a willow, drawing gasps from the crowd with each turn. The energy in that square was palpable! I had to grab myself a seat at the little café nearby, a cappuccino in hand, and lose myself in the spectacle. It was truly magical!

As you all know, my blog posts are not just about my fabulous adventures, they’re also about encouraging you all to unleash your inner ballerina. So this week's challenge is…find your own dance floor! Whether it's a corner of your living room or a hidden gem like the dance school I found in Rome, take your shoes off, spin like a whirling dervish, and unleash that inner tutu-wearing you. You know it's in there, darlings!

Stay tuned next week for more Roman escapades, featuring delicious food, charming local cafes, and a ballet performance at the Teatro dell’Opera that’s going to blow your mind! And don’t forget, you can keep up with my adventures on www.pink-tutu.com and see all my latest outfits and finds on my Instagram page: @pinktututravels.

Ciao for now!
