Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! (Post #582)

Wednesday 2006-08-02

Hello lovelies! It's Wednesday again, which means another instalment from the pinkest corner of the internet – right here, in your favourite pink tutu-wearing blogger's corner of the web, where fashion meets adventure, and trains are always the best way to travel!

This week, my adventures have taken me to the Eternal City itself - Rome! I just adore this city - the ancient ruins, the gelato, the bustling piazzas, and, of course, the fashion! Let's just say, this girl has been absolutely spoilt for choice when it comes to shopping sprees.

You might be wondering, "How do you afford all these amazing trips, Emma?" Well, you see, it's all thanks to my dear friend, the Ballet. I fund my globetrotting with enchanting performances and stunning dance numbers, and let me tell you, there's no better feeling than hearing that thunderous applause at the end of a truly magical performance. It truly is a gift to be able to share the magic of ballet with the world and, to boot, fund my travels on the way!

Now, back to my Roman adventure. I arrived by train, of course! Honestly, there is nothing quite like the rhythm of the tracks and the sights whipping by. And, with my trusty pink tutu, I couldn't have felt more like a whimsical ballerina travelling to her own enchanting world. Rome didn't disappoint.

My Rome highlights

Let me paint you a picture, my darlings:

The Colosseum: Imagine a structure so grand it leaves you speechless, whispering stories of ancient gladiators and emperors. This was the heart of the Roman Empire, and seeing it for the first time, standing in the very arena where gladiators fought and emperors reigned, gave me chills that I will never forget. I wore my blush pink tulle skirt with my favourite pearl earrings and white strappy sandals - a dash of feminine elegance in a setting so steeped in history.

The Trevi Fountain: We've all seen the movie scene, right? Where everyone tosses in a coin for wishes and promises of a return to Rome. But being there, feeling the water cascading from the towering sculptures, amidst the throngs of excited tourists, and imagining myself a Roman goddess, felt magical. This was my Roman princess moment. For this, I donned a vintage-inspired, powder-pink maxi dress that danced gracefully as I twirled beneath the fountain's magnificent spray.

The Vatican: What an incredible sight, surrounded by intricate mosaics and breathtaking artwork! Here, you truly feel the depth of history and faith that resonates through centuries. The beauty and intricacy of St. Peter's Basilica is something everyone must witness at least once in their lifetime. And it’s a fantastic place to wear a bold, fuchsia-pink tulle skirt! I did, and everyone smiled at me!

The Pantheon: A triumph of Roman architecture, and quite possibly the most perfectly preserved ancient building I've ever seen. The incredible oculus, the massive dome, the elegant columns – everything is perfectly balanced. It felt almost like walking through a fairytale! I wore a floaty peach-pink dress with my pink ballerina flats – just imagine my delight when I caught sight of my reflection in one of the building's stunning marble walls. A ballerina's dream come true.

A Ballerina's Rome

Rome has the perfect blend of classical charm and vibrant modern life, it's no wonder it continues to inspire artists and dreamers of every generation. I’m already planning a ballet workshop, "Tutus in the Eternal City" - with plans to teach a fun class incorporating the romantic, flowing lines of the classic tutu with iconic Roman locations. This will definitely be a showstopper - a performance blending dance, history, and pure feminine elegance!

Shopping Spree!

No trip to Rome would be complete without indulging in some fabulous fashion finds. My little ballerina bag is overflowing with fabulous pieces that caught my eye - think delicate Italian lace, whimsical prints, and vibrant colours, of course!

I snagged a blush-pink dress with intricate lace details and a perfect A-line cut for twirling – absolutely perfect for romantic evenings around the city. I found the most incredible pair of gold sandals, and I absolutely cannot resist the temptation of Italian craftsmanship – a real, decadent treat! And I bought some chic headbands that compliment my rosy-pink tutus perfectly – all the more fabulous to compliment the Italian sun, I’ll admit!

Tonight's show

Now, for the highlight of my evening – tonight I'm catching a stunning performance of “Swan Lake” at the Teatro dell'Opera! You guys just know that this is a special night – ballet is my soul and this evening, with this enchanting performance, it will fill my heart.

Oh! I can hardly wait to get my twirl on! I’m sure I'll be transported to a world of magical enchantment, surrounded by graceful ballerinas and elegant costumes. I can feel it – I’ll be feeling truly glamorous in my vintage ballet-inspired silk gown - all thanks to the stunning, sophisticated ballet scene, of course!

A ballerina's message

This is a call to all my dearest followers to wear a little bit of pink and feel that feminine, elegant power - it's time to find that inner ballerina, wherever you are, and embrace your most dazzling and confident self.

Remember: It's all about embracing life with that carefree, twirling attitude - and wearing a touch of pink always helps!

See you next Wednesday, and keep your tutu ready for more travel adventures!

Lots of pink love, Emma
