Ciao, darlings!
It’s Emma here, writing to you from the glorious city of Rome! I've swapped my Derbyshire cobblestone streets for ancient Roman ruins and am finally living the la dolce vita.
This week’s Pink Tutu Rome is extra special, as it’s my first blog post from this breathtaking city! I arrived on Monday and am already completely enamoured by its beauty. The history here is palpable; from the awe-inspiring Colosseum to the intricate details of the Vatican, every corner I turn is a new lesson in art and architecture.
Travel in Style: The Italian Train Journey
As you know, I'm a big fan of travelling by train – there’s something incredibly romantic about the journey. This time, it was even more delightful – travelling through the French countryside in my pinkest tutu. My fellow passengers seemed to appreciate my flamboyant attire. After all, what better way to brighten up a journey than with a splash of pink and a twirl or two? 😉
Speaking of pink, did I tell you about my new, breathtakingly beautiful, fuchsia polka dot dress I bought in Paris just before arriving? Let’s just say it’s perfectly suited to exploring Roman sights and catching a glimpse of some amazing street performers!
A City That Sings
Rome, I've discovered, is a city of rhythm. Every morning I wake up to the melody of the city – the buzz of scooters, the cheerful chatter of locals, the faint tinkling of street musicians. I feel like I'm right in the heart of a grand opera, just waiting for my cue to perform!
Yesterday I even caught a delightful little ballet performance at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. A charming and graceful performance by the Teatro’s company in the enchanting historical setting! This truly gave me the inspiration for my very own, Pink Tutu Rome, Ballet-themed Roman Holiday. More on that later!
From Cathedrals to Cocktails
My week has been packed with adventures: I’ve wandered through the iconic Pantheon, admired the artistic masterpieces of the Vatican, marvelled at the scale and majesty of the Colosseum. And, naturally, I've had a generous dose of shopping too! A fabulous vintage dress shop hidden away in Trastevere stole my heart and filled my suitcase with a new treasure or two!
Tonight I'm indulging in some local cuisine at a very charming trattoria recommended by a local. And I’m already planning tomorrow’s adventures. I can't wait to share them all with you!
A Touch of Pink in Rome
Of course, my favourite part about travelling? Finding the pinkest spots in every city! And trust me, Rome does not disappoint!
I discovered a gorgeous pink flower stall in the heart of Trastevere yesterday. The colours were dazzling and I had to have a photo. I also found a hidden, very glamorous bar decorated with rose-gold and pink velvet. Needless to say, a pink champagne cocktail was in order!
Rome and Ballet: A Perfect Pairing
Oh, darlings, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu blog without a ballet mention! I've been working on my next big show. I'm collaborating with the wonderful group of dancers at my local school in Derbyshire on a Rome-inspired performance that will transport our audience straight into the heart of Italy! I’m using some of the Roman-themed music I heard during my travels. Expect beautiful swirling tulle, lots of pink, and, of course, an extravagant ballet interpretation of Roman mythology! I can't wait to share it with you all!
To Wear A Tutu in Rome... Or Anywhere!
My adventures in Rome are just beginning, darlings. There’s so much to see, to learn, and to experience in this beautiful city. But I have to go – I have another grand pink dress to find!
Remember, Rome is calling! Don’t be afraid to explore, be adventurous, and to, of course, twirl around with joy!
