Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 1st November, 2006 – Post #595! 🩰🇮🇹

Ciao, darlings! 👋

Emma here, fresh from a whirlwind journey to the Eternal City, Rome! 🇮🇹

As always, the excitement started right here in Derbyshire. I couldn’t wait to embark on this Italian adventure. Did I mention I love train travel? 🥰 The gentle sway of the carriages, the rhythm of the rails, it all adds to the magic of a trip. I was so excited to be exploring this incredible city! I've been dreaming of visiting Rome for ages and finally, the moment had arrived. This week's post will take you right there with me! 💖

Let's dive in...

I always feel most comfortable on a journey when I'm wearing a bright and bouncy pink tutu. 🌸 And, this trip was no exception! My arrival at Roma Termini station was certainly a statement. My favourite tutu - the one with the sequined embellishments and the perfectly frilled layers – made an unforgettable entrance! I was ready to capture every breathtaking moment in my trusty pink ballet flats. They might not be practical for all situations, but they definitely add a touch of je ne sais quoi! ✨

I'd booked a charming little hotel right near the Piazza Navona, with a balcony overlooking a charming courtyard. There's something about the quaint charm of Italy, you know? They truly know how to do cosy, with elegant wrought iron balconies, colourful floral arrangements, and the scent of espresso filling the air. It was truly magical!

Of course, a quick trip to a local market was on the agenda! My darling tutu just needed a little something to elevate it, right? I found the most delightful silk scarf - a rich crimson, patterned with delicate gold filigree - a perfect match for my vibrant pink tutu! 🤩 And, for good measure, a stunning vintage hat, its brim adorned with bright red feathers, a real vintage dream.

I simply cannot resist a little retail therapy when I'm abroad, you see!

Exploring The City - Art, History, & Aperitivos!

My first day in Rome was dedicated to absorbing the beauty and history that this city is known for. 🏛️ My ballet steps carried me across cobbled streets, past towering fountains, ancient ruins, and glorious piazzas. Everywhere I looked, there was a new piece of art to admire, from Renaissance masterpieces to awe-inspiring architecture.

I simply couldn't miss out on a visit to the Vatican Museums. I marveled at Michelangelo's stunning Sistine Chapel, where my pink tutu twirled beneath the captivating scenes. I think even Michelangelo would have appreciated my pink tutu; the artistry in each painted brushstroke was incredible! I love the stories that art tells; a single detail, a small inscription on a wall, a piece of a lost world… The stories that resonate from centuries ago never cease to inspire me.

After the Vatican, a visit to the Pantheon was a must! The immense dome, that oculus that allows for light to flood in, the perfectly proportioned beauty… this structure, even after all these centuries, truly speaks to the soul. ✨

No day in Rome would be complete without indulging in delicious Italian cuisine and aperitivos! 🍷 The flavours were exquisite; from creamy pasta dishes and juicy slices of prosciutto to delectable pizzas baked fresh from the wood-fired ovens. Every bite was a symphony of flavours!

My evening included a visit to Teatro Argentina, where I savoured a vibrant, moving ballet performance. The stage was alive with powerful energy. My tutus never looked better! I can't resist watching other dancers' graceful movements and intricate choreography. It reminds me of the joy and freedom that dance brings to my life.

Fashionable finds & Fabulous evenings!

One of my favourite things about exploring new cities is experiencing the unique street style! 💖 And Rome was no exception! I particularly enjoyed a visit to Trastevere. I spotted several local women donning gorgeous printed silk scarves, intricately embroidered blouses, and stylishly vintage handbags. And you know, even on my adventures through this incredible city, I never had a second thought about wearing my favourite tutu! 🥰 I'm on a mission to encourage others to find their inner pink tutu spirit and to not be afraid to stand out. We all deserve to add a touch of whimsy to our lives!

One evening, we headed to the picturesque neighbourhood of Trastevere for a delightful aperitivo in a small trattoria. 🍾 With the twinkling lights, a buzz of conversations, and the smell of freshly baked bread, the atmosphere was perfect. I knew I had to find a vintage dress in the beautiful fabric and colours I’d seen throughout the city… so that's exactly what I did! That vintage dress made a great addition to my already extensive wardrobe. 🥰

The food was heavenly and I especially enjoyed trying local specialities like fried artichoke hearts and “supplì,” rice balls fried and filled with mozzarella cheese - such deliciousness!

On the lookout for the next pink tutu adventure...

As I board the train back home, I feel a touch of sadness but mostly, excitement for my next ballet adventure. It’s time for me to begin planning my next voyage!

I know my life wouldn't be nearly as bright without my favourite pink tutu. It’s been with me on all of my travels, from Paris to Vienna and even Tokyo! And, this time, it made Rome truly unforgettable. My dream is to make it an international trend, to spread the joy and happiness that comes with twirling in a pink tutu! I truly believe the world is a better place with more colour, creativity, and playful joy! 🩰

Keep an eye on www.pink-tutu.com next Wednesday for the next update on my journey to inspire more pink tutu moments around the world. And, until then, I encourage you to dance your worries away, wear your heart on your sleeve, and embrace the magic that lies in every single day!

Ciao, and until next Wednesday! 💕
