Pink Tutu Rome #596: A Week of Dolce Vita in the Eternal City
Ciao bella! It's your favourite pink-tutu-clad blogger, Emma, reporting live from the magical city of Rome. This Wednesday, I'm swapping my usual Derbyshire drizzle for the warm Roman sun – a welcome change indeed! This week's post is extra special, as I've been touring the city of cobbled streets, ancient ruins and, of course, fabulous fashion. I feel like I'm living in a fairytale, twirling through cobbled squares and ancient fountains in my favourite pink tulle skirt!
This trip is a bit different for me – funded not by a dazzling ballet performance, but by my blog, www.pink-tutu.com! Can you believe it? This year, you lovely readers have been so generous with your support that I can now share my love of travel, tutus and, of course, all things pink, with the world! So, without further ado, let's delve into my week of Roman adventures…
A Tuscan Train Journey & a Little Inspiration
Rome is, of course, incredibly beautiful, but it's not all about the city for me. This trip started with a delightful train journey through Tuscany, a place that practically sings with inspiration. Think rolling green hills, impossibly beautiful stone buildings and a vibrant, colorful, earthy feel. The scenery inspired a new colour palette for my tutus - think rich emerald greens and burnt orange with a splash of pink! I even caught a glimpse of a stunning woman wearing a long, flowing crimson dress and a dazzling hat – something that will be staying with me when I design my new "Roman Rose" collection!
Rome, A City For Every Fashionista
Upon arriving in Rome, I was immediately struck by the attitude. It's not just about the stunning Italian clothes, the sophisticated silhouettes, and the fabulous shoe designs. It's the feeling, the air of self-assured chic that fills the streets. Rome embraces individuality, encouraging everyone to express themselves through their fashion choices. And guess what? That includes pink tutus!
It's truly exciting for a tutu-lover like myself. My mission here, alongside exploring the city and finding all the best places to get a steaming cup of coffee, is to discover which shops will embrace the “pink-tutu" revolution! (My ultimate dream: a pink tutu aisle at a boutique here in Rome!)
From the Trevi Fountain to The Pantheon - Beauty Everywhere I Look
My time here has been a whirlwind of beauty, but some highlights I absolutely must mention are the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon. At the Trevi Fountain, I had my very own "Roman Holiday" moment, tossing a coin for good luck (and perhaps hoping that my next pink tutu creation will be a hit!). I found myself surrounded by so much energy, both from the water and from the happy people throwing their coins. I even had a charming older Italian gentleman offer to take my photo while I posed, naturally, twirling in my pink tutu skirt!
The Pantheon, meanwhile, is a truly breathtaking structure. The open dome lets in an amazing light, illuminating the intricate details of this marvel of ancient architecture. There’s a beautiful energy about this place, it truly is humbling, making you feel small against such grandeur.
The Flavours of Rome – My Food Adventures
What would a trip to Rome be without a journey into its culinary heart? So far, I've been enjoying all the pasta, pizza, and gelati that I can manage! You won't find a pink tutu in my mouth, but the colours in this delicious food are as colourful and vibrant as the city itself. My favourites? Spaghetti alla Carbonara and a delectable mushroom pizza that practically melted in my mouth.
But even more exciting is the food market I found nestled in a cobblestone courtyard. A true hidden gem filled with local vendors selling the most beautiful cheeses, cured meats, fruits, and vegetables, all at fantastic prices. The sheer bounty and vibrancy were simply amazing! I can see why people spend hours just browsing here – I could spend days trying different samples.
My "Pink-Tutu-Inspired" Italian Wardrobe Update
You know how I love a new wardrobe update, and Rome, it seems, was meant for this! The vibrant, earthy colours, the stunning silk scarves, and the intricate details on jackets and dresses – all of this inspires my own wardrobe and the future of Pink Tutu. I've been snapping photos (a good pink tutu girl is always prepared!), and I'm already envisioning the perfect mix of delicate pinks and deeper reds and greens that I'll incorporate into my own designs!
And the shoes… oh, the shoes! They are something else! A fabulous combination of both elegance and practicality, so that makes sense! The colours I’ve seen… deep emeralds, burnished browns, and, of course, pops of pink. I think I just discovered the missing pieces for my "Roman Rose" collection!
The Show Must Go On – A Performance Under the Roman Stars
To truly capture the magic of Italy, I had to take in a performance. And I’m thrilled to share that I stumbled upon a delightful outdoor opera performance last night. It was absolutely unforgettable! The music soared, the performers danced beautifully under the star-studded sky, and I, of course, couldn't resist a twirl in my pink tutu during the intermission! I was even interviewed by a local newspaper – the headline? “Pink Tutu: Dancing in the Shadows of Roman History”. Can you even believe it?!
Living in the Pink: Finding Beauty Everywhere I Go
This week in Rome has been truly spectacular. The beauty of this city lies not just in its history or its fashion, but in the sheer vibrancy of its culture and the energy that emanates from the people. Everywhere I go, I feel this sense of passion, love, and celebration.
So, whether I'm wandering through the Colosseum or enjoying a gelato at sunset, I'm living life in the pink, my heart full of joy and my mind abuzz with ideas. After all, Rome has proven to be the perfect city for spreading the pink tutu gospel! And just wait until you see the photos from the next performance I've booked!
Until next week, darlings! Stay stylish!
With a flourish and a twirl, Emma
