Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 15th November 2006 - Post #597

Ciao bella!

From the cobbled streets of Derbyshire, England to the cobbled streets of Rome, Italy - this pink tutu is loving life! Today is another Wednesday, which means it's time for my Rome blog post, and I am absolutely buzzing!

The train journey was, as always, a joy. There's something magical about watching the countryside whizz past, knowing you're heading towards a city brimming with history, art, and endless opportunities for fabulous fashion finds.

Now, as I write this, I'm sitting in my favourite little café tucked away on a quiet side street. The sun is streaming through the window, bathing the café in a warm glow, and the aroma of fresh espresso and warm pastries fills the air. Honestly, it's enough to make any pink tutu twirl with delight!

Speaking of delight, you wouldn't believe the ballet show I saw last night! The Teatro dell'Opera di Roma is simply magnificent. The plush red velvet seats, the shimmering chandeliers, and the exquisite stage setting all contribute to the magic of the experience. It was a modern piece, with daring choreography and costumes that truly sparkled under the stage lights. Honestly, I couldn't help but do a little twirl myself when I left the theatre, feeling absolutely inspired!

Fashion Finds:

Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without a bit of shopping. Today's haul included the most gorgeous pair of cherry-red suede pumps. Imagine my delight! I've been searching for the perfect pair for weeks, and these are simply divine. I also snagged a vintage pink cardigan at a little boutique just around the corner from the café. I love the intricate details and the faded rose pattern - it's just the perfect vintage touch!

Speaking of pink, you'll be delighted to know that the colour is really having a moment in Rome right now. I spotted a little girl sporting a darling pink tutu skirt in Piazza Navona, and I just had to chat her up. She told me all about her passion for dance, and even gave me a little twirl of her own! It warms my heart to see such enthusiasm for all things pink and tutu. My aim in life, remember, is to make the world a more pink and tutu-filled place, one little girl at a time!

Pink Tutu's Must-Dos in Rome:

  • The Trevi Fountain: I mean, come on! It's not just a fountain; it's an experience! Toss in a coin, make a wish, and soak in the beauty of the Baroque architecture. It's just magical!
  • The Spanish Steps: Now this is where the fashionable folk gather. Grab a coffee at one of the charming cafes, people-watch, and soak up the vibrant energy of this iconic spot.
  • Pantheon: There's a reason they call this masterpiece “The Perfect Building.” Its architecture and the sheer awe-inspiring beauty of this structure are enough to make your jaw drop.
  • Colosseum: An absolute must-visit. This massive arena whispers of emperors, gladiators, and historical grandeur. Make sure you take a guided tour and truly immerse yourself in the rich history!
  • The Vatican City: St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums are a testament to the beauty of art and architecture. There's a whole lot of history, artistry, and wonder tucked away in the smallest country in the world.

For Today's Itinerary:

This afternoon, I'm planning to visit the Borghese Gallery and Gardens. The sculpture garden, I hear, is quite incredible! And maybe a spot of people watching from the terrace - what's a trip to Rome without a little bit of fashion observation, right?

Until Next Week...

Well, that’s all for now. Until next Wednesday, when I'll share my experiences from the Borghese Gallery, some delicious Roman pasta recommendations, and hopefully a couple more fashion finds. I can’t wait!
