#PinkTutuRome Wednesday 2007-02-21 exploring Rome Italy

It's Wednesday, and you know what that means! It's Pink Tutu Rome time! I'm writing this from a beautiful little café in the heart of Rome, sipping cappuccino and surrounded by the sounds of the city - bustling, vibrant, and utterly captivating. I’m still getting over the sheer beauty of this place, the amazing energy that flows through its ancient streets.

I arrived here last night, arriving in style on a comfy train from Florence (because let's be honest, there’s no better way to travel). It was quite a journey, taking me through beautiful Tuscan countryside and stopping at charming little towns, all steeped in history.

This week I’m all about exploring the Eternal City - a city filled with glorious history, delicious food, and of course, opportunities for the ultimate pink tutu photo op! (Spoiler alert: there will be a lot of photos!)

So, let's talk about today. I kicked things off in a stylish pink tutu and sparkly ballet shoes, obviously. What else would I wear?! Today, I wanted to see one of the most iconic Roman landmarks - the Colosseum! The sheer size of this structure was awe-inspiring! You can literally feel the power of ancient Rome surrounding you as you walk its grounds.

After exploring the Colosseum, I found the cutest little pink bakery - oh, my heart! It was like walking into a fairytale! I devoured a slice of strawberry and cream cake and then grabbed a few macarons to enjoy later (they're perfect for ballet snacking).

Of course, my trip wasn’t complete without visiting the Roman Forum! A historic masterpiece of Roman architecture, I spent a good hour simply taking it all in, trying to imagine the life of Romans walking through these streets thousands of years ago. The feeling of stepping back in time was so powerful.

After my adventures in history, I spent the evening enjoying the vibrant energy of Rome. We ate dinner at a tiny, traditional Italian restaurant tucked away in a back street - oh my, the pasta! Simply divine! The best part was watching local Roman families sharing their delicious meals and laughing over stories. It felt like a real slice of Italian life.

Speaking of Italian life, this week in Rome there’s so much going on:

• A Ballet Show: I am so excited, this Friday I’m going to see the ballet “Giselle”. Can’t wait to get my tutus on!
• Rome Fashion Week: The latest fashion collections will be showing! I am on the lookout for the perfect outfit, I need some stylish inspiration, something to bring a little “pink” to Rome fashion week!
• The Festival of St Valentine: What a perfect romantic time to be in Rome, the streets are decked in flowers and hearts!

But the adventure doesn't stop here! As always, there's much more to share:

• Outfit Update: I have been playing with pink and blush this week - delicate pinks, bright candy pinks, every kind! The beauty of a ballet skirt is that you can really change its style by layering it over different things. I even tried a vintage red-rose pink tutu top with a black silk skirt and pearl necklaces. So elegant, and of course, a little “pink”. I feel very chic!
• Pink Tutu Advice: I'm always happy to help anyone get started with their own pink tutu journey. You know, if you're ever thinking, “I want to wear a pink tutu but...” - Just email me! We’ll find your perfect pink.
• Where to Buy Tutus: My newest love are Etsy shop tutu makers! Some are hand-sewn, others have such creative embellishments! My friends all ask where I find these beautiful things and my answer is Etsy! You will definitely be in awe.

I have already packed my schedule full of the incredible things this amazing city offers, including a visit to the Vatican City. I just can't wait! There are more than 50 incredible museums to see here and a chance to really explore this enchanting and historically rich part of the world.
