Pink Tutu Rome #619: La Dolce Vita in a Pink Tutu

Ciao bellas!

It’s Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu adventure! Today, I'm taking you all to the heart of Italy – the Eternal City, Rome! I'm absolutely in love with this city, its charm, its history, its delicious food and, of course, its beautiful shops! I mean, how can you not love a city that houses both the Trevi Fountain AND the Valentino flagship store?

A Train Journey to Romance

Now, I know some of you might be wondering how a little ballerina from Derbyshire gets around to all these incredible destinations. Well, let me tell you, my love affair with travel began with trains! I’m a huge fan of jumping on a train, gazing out the window, enjoying the countryside rushing past, and just letting my imagination take over.

So, when I decided to explore the majesty of Rome, I chose the train, naturally! A little adventure, a bit of planning, and a carefully chosen playlist are all I needed to feel like I’m living in my very own Pink Tutu movie! I must say, I adore the comfort and peacefulness of the train.

Pink Tutu in Rome: Exploring the Timeless City

Right, back to the Italian adventure! My time in Rome has been a whirlwind of colour, history, and yes, shopping! And what better way to explore a city like this than in my trusty pink tutu, right? I mean, what says "I’m here to have fun!" more than a twirling, dancing ballerina in a bright pink tutu?

Today, I'm going to share my favourite finds so far.

  • The Colosseum: A Piece of History, a Pink Tutu Moment I can’t imagine being in Rome and not visiting this incredible feat of Roman architecture. The Colosseum was absolutely stunning. I could almost hear the roar of the crowds, smell the scent of chariot dust, and feel the energy of a bygone era! I even did a little twirl in my tutu for a few photos, embracing the historical magic of this iconic place.

  • Trevi Fountain: Making a Wish (and Maybe a Splash) As expected, the Trevi Fountain is simply breathtaking. The artistry is awe-inspiring, and everyone's desire to throw in a coin and wish for a return trip to Rome just adds to the magic of the moment. Now, the moment I tossed my coin into the water, a mischievous tourist's tossed a splash of water right on me! And, well, who doesn’t love a bit of playful fun? And so, I did my trademark “Pink Tutu Spin of Joy" and we had a lovely little chuckle!

  • Vatican City: Where Art and Faith Meet Vatican City is a must-see for anyone visiting Rome. The art, the architecture, the history… it’s all just breathtaking. My personal favourite was the Sistine Chapel – the colours, the detail, the grandeur, everything! It was a very emotional and inspirational experience. I even did a little dance, more of a swaying movement, to feel the magic of the place.

Fashion Fun and Ballet Shows: A Ballerina's Dream Come True

I mean, how can one explore such a chic and stylish city like Rome without engaging in a little retail therapy, right? The city was bursting with beautiful fashion! And of course, my Pink Tutu Wardrobe, had to get a little upgrade, wouldn't you agree? I discovered this fabulous shop that had the most stunning pink shoes, perfectly matching my pink tutu for the perfect pink combo, I absolutely had to have them!

Speaking of the perfect pink combo, I was also lucky enough to catch a ballet performance by the Rome Opera Ballet, which I thought was absolutely sublime! The choreography, the passion, the elegance - it just brought me to tears! I am utterly captivated by ballet. It is such a graceful and elegant dance form that just evokes a powerful emotional response within me, it’s just beautiful. It’s almost like my happy place.

Food, Fun, and Pink Tutu Adventures in Rome: #PinkTutuRome

You know me, I'm not one to turn down delicious food. Rome's food scene is an explosion of flavors. I've sampled pasta with fresh pesto, pizzas, mouthwatering tiramisu, all accompanied with an endless amount of delicious gelato! Everything has been an experience for the tastebuds.

Rome is truly a magical city. It's steeped in history and art, it’s filled with culture and fashion, and of course, the food… oh, the food! It's no wonder that so many artists, poets, and dancers have found inspiration here!

But I'm a ballerina at heart, and my journey continues! There are so many more cities on my Pink Tutu Itinerary and so many adventures to be had! I’m hoping to make everyone understand that everyone, including the youngest little girl to the oldest, most distinguished gentleman can be free to express themselves, their inner creative spirit, and a sense of fun and joy by putting on a Pink Tutu. Life's too short not to twirl, my darlings! Stay tuned next Wednesday as we continue my #PinkTutuAdventures!

Ciao, and don’t forget to stay pink, stay twirling!
