Pink Tutu Rome: #621 - Ciao Bella, Roma!

Wednesday 2007-05-02

Buongiorno from the Eternal City, darlings!

This week's #PinkTutuRome adventure whisks us away to the romantic, bustling heart of Italy - Rome! I'm absolutely bursting with excitement, as this has been a dream destination of mine for as long as I can remember. You know, one of those places you imagine yourself pirouetting through the streets in a billowing tutu, like a real-life fairytale. Well, today's dream is coming true, as I hop off the train at Termini Station, pink tutu swirling in the breeze, ready to conquer the capital of this glorious nation.

It's amazing how trains whisk you away to another world, isn't it? The journey from Derbyshire was a blur of fields, castles, and vineyards, and as I peeked out of the window, the Italian countryside unfurled itself in vibrant hues of olive green, ochre, and deep crimson. The excitement, the anticipation, it was like I was being swept away by the very train itself, towards my own personal "Swan Lake" adventure!

And then, bang, there I was, surrounded by the unique atmosphere of Rome. You just know you're in a place with so much history and energy buzzing around you. It's intoxicating! Everywhere I look, there's a crumbling Coliseum, a charming piazzetta (I have a feeling this will be a very commonly used word in my posts!), or an awe-inspiring basilica beckoning me closer.

First stop? Of course, it's all about the shopping!

And, let me tell you, Rome is a haven for fashionistas! I spent the afternoon browsing the Via Condotti, a street overflowing with designer boutiques, my head swimming with exquisite fabrics and styles. It's hard to pick favourites, but the Gucci and Prada showrooms certainly tickled my fancy!

Speaking of fashion, I'm thrilled to announce I’ve found a hidden gem - a fabulous tailor on a side street near the Spanish Steps, a little haven of vintage elegance, a paradise for a pink-loving tutu-enthusiast like myself! The shop window display caught my eye; it’s called ‘Bellezza Rosa' * and, my darlings, you won't believe it - they had an entire section dedicated to *pink tutus! I almost cried, you know! This might be the start of something incredible… whispers Maybe a pink tutu line exclusively designed for Rome… shivers What a dream!

I’m indulging in a bit of retail therapy later, and you can bet that I'll be documenting every glamorous find! This pink princess is always looking for that perfect pink outfit to pair with my favourite tutu, ready for those picture-perfect Italian moments.

Tonight, however, the stage calls. I've scored tickets to a breathtaking ballet at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma!

There's nothing like watching professional dancers execute the most elegant steps and leaps, telling stories with their bodies, creating pure beauty in the language of ballet. It’s inspiring. It's almost…breathes magical.

Stay tuned, darlings. There's so much more to discover in this enchanting city, and I'll be sharing all my adventures with you each Wednesday here on www.pink-tutu.com

Stay fabulous!

xx Emma
