Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! Post #630
Wednesday 4th July, 2007
Buongiorno, my darlings! It's Emma here, writing to you live from the Eternal City itself! Rome! It feels like a dream, honestly. It’s been a long journey from Derbyshire but a good one, I caught the train from Paris last night, oh the romantic French train stations… always full of mystery and beautiful people. As I settled into my compartment, with my pink tutu safely tucked away in my travel bag, I knew this adventure was going to be magnifique!
Rome is absolutely bursting with energy – the smells, the sounds, the people! Even the pigeons seem to have more character here than back home. My hotel room is perfectly pink, a blush-coloured paradise! I had to be here today, it's the opening of the Opera di Roma Summer Season! This year they are showing "La Traviata", oh how I love Verdi! You wouldn’t believe how beautiful this old opera house is, the detail, the grandness! It's the perfect way to soak up all the romance of Italy.
Before I slipped into my beautiful tutu (the pinkest tulle you’ve ever seen, naturally, with little pink feather embellishments!), I went for a walk around the city centre. Rome's charm is a mixture of history, buzzing energy, and gelato shops everywhere! I even saw a street performance earlier with some incredibly talented dancers! It's the perfect mix of old and new and I feel like I’m living in a fairytale.
And speaking of fairytales, oh the shopping! This city is an absolute paradise for any fashionista! The colours are vibrant, the craftsmanship is incredible, and of course, they've got shoe shops galore! You wouldn’t believe the beautiful suede sandals I’ve picked up already. Pink, naturally! My goal is to leave here with a suitcase filled with new finds – think elegant silk scarves, a statement hat, and possibly even a few sparkly brooches for the tutu. Let's just say, my credit card may be a little unhappy, but my heart is soaring with happiness.
This evening, I’ll be catching a glimpse of the incredible Colosseum - I've heard it's even more breathtaking in person, just imagine! Later, I'm planning to meet up with a group of fellow ballet enthusiasts - who better to explore the beauty of Rome with than some fellow dance-lovers? And of course, it wouldn’t be a trip to Italy without indulging in some delicious food! Spaghetti alla Carbonara, pizzas, creamy tiramisu… oh, the temptations!
There’s so much I want to see here – the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, the Catacombs… I’ll keep you updated on my adventures! Just remember, dear readers, every day is a new adventure, a new stage to shine on! Never underestimate the power of a pink tutu to add a dash of sparkle to any day!
Now, let me know, dear friends! Have you been to Rome? What was your favourite memory from the city? And, what are some of your must-see attractions for a pink-loving ballerina like myself? Tell me all about your adventures below! Until next Wednesday!
Love,
Emma
