Pink Tutu Rome: #654 - A Roman Holiday in a Pink Tutu! 🩰🇮🇹

Ciao bellas! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome blog post, fresh from the cobbled streets of this beautiful city! Today's all about exploring the eternal city in style, and of course, what's more stylish than a pink tutu?

You know me, always on the hunt for new experiences and breathtaking scenery - and Rome delivers in spades!

As always, my travels are funded by the magic of ballet, so this trip's a celebration of all those gruelling rehearsals and late nights in the studio. Last week, I had the joy of performing in "The Nutcracker" with a fab Derbyshire dance company, and it was a truly magical experience. Sharing the stage with talented dancers, bringing joy to audiences... what more could a ballerina ask for?

This week, though, I've traded pointe shoes for chic Roman sandals and swapped my ballet bun for a gloriously messy, beachy wave (though, let's be honest, a ballerina bun never truly goes out of style!).

I landed in Rome this morning, travelling in style on the Eurostar, which, of course, I took advantage of to slip into a pink tutu dress that perfectly complemented my bright fuchsia suitcase! (The best part is everyone smiles at me in the carriage - seems people just adore a little tutu love!)

Fashionable Roman Adventures

Rome is a city where every corner breathes history and romance, and let me tell you, a pink tutu makes a grand entrance. From the ancient Colosseum to the Vatican, I'm getting the best selfies ever.

Today, I've already taken in a bit of iconic Rome:

  • A trip to the Trevi Fountain: How could I resist throwing a coin in for good luck, whilst in my favourite pink tutu? You wouldn't believe how much my tutu stands out against the magnificent backdrop of the Trevi Fountain! The Romans truly love pink, you know, so everyone's giving me a lovely thumbs-up. It was truly a moment to remember, all in a swirl of pink, and believe me, a tutu looks even better with the sunlight dancing off its tulle!

  • A leisurely stroll through the Piazza Navona: I spotted a street performer there, a skilled ballerina with a mesmerizing technique. A little tutu inspiration for me, and the crowds were clearly enthralled, all agog! Rome really has it all, even inspiring dancers on street corners.

  • An afternoon of shopping: And what is a trip to Rome without a shopping spree? The Roman fashion scene is all about elegance and chic, and of course, I've been exploring those lovely little boutiques for everything pink. My must-have today was a pair of gorgeous blush-pink leather pumps and a soft pink silk scarf that would make any ballerina’s heart sing. Oh, and don't worry, I also got a tutu for a little Roman street urchin, in a shade of baby pink, so cute it almost hurts!

My Top Roman Tips (In a Pink Tutu, Of Course)

Rome is a city for walking and soaking up the atmosphere, and what better way to do it than in a tutu? It definitely turns heads, sparks conversations, and puts you in the mood to explore. I love how my pink tutu attracts the friendly locals, I've been given lots of helpful tips and charming advice already. I feel a part of the Roman fabric already.

  • Pink Tutu Tip #1: Take the bus with a fabulous pink tulle outfit. Trust me, every single journey is a fashion show. Be ready to accept that people might ask for pictures with you – it’s all in the spirit of sharing pink tutus with the world!

  • Pink Tutu Tip #2: Always travel with snacks, darling, the journey from the station can take you across several stunning Roman districts, with so much beauty, you will forget you’re even hungry. I packed my tutu-shaped snack bag with adorable strawberry tarts, I even packed them in a tiny pink ribbon, you wouldn't believe how chic they look against my pink outfit!

  • Pink Tutu Tip #3: Never be afraid to try something new, whether it's a street performer's amazing rendition of the Italian national anthem in pink ballerina shoes or the decadent ice-cream they call “Gelato." A little adventurous spirit makes your journey even more memorable!

Upcoming Roman Delights

The week’s only just started! There's still so much to see: The Pantheon with its stunning architecture, the Vatican Museum with its breathtaking art collections, the Trevi Fountain with its famous legend, and of course, more pink tutu shenanigans to boot.

The beauty of travel is discovering something new each day, but my favourite part is seeing how my love for pink tutus makes every location special, so keep an eye out for more Roman adventures, especially how a pink tutu helps me navigate the city’s famous street food scene… the Roman delicacies just beg to be tasted whilst wearing a pretty, voluminous tutu.

So until next Wednesday, bella, when I share more of my Roman pink-tutu adventures! And don’t forget, the world’s a better place in a pink tutu. Don't be shy! Give it a whirl!

**Yours in pink,

Emma**
