Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday, 12th December 2007 - Post Number 653!

Ciao Bella!

The cobblestones are calling, the gelato is melting, and my pink tutu is twirling with glee! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another fabulous Pink Tutu Rome adventure! I'm currently writing this from a delightful little cafรฉ nestled in the heart of Trastevere, a buzzing neighbourhood filled with the scent of roasted coffee beans and the laughter of happy Roman folk. The sunshine is streaming through the cafe windows, warming my soul (and making me slightly wish I'd worn my pink fur stole!).

Today, we're taking a trip down memory lane and exploring a slice of Ancient Rome! You know how much I adore discovering history through the lens of performance, so we're heading to the Teatro Marcello, an impressive 1st-century Roman amphitheatre that's been brought to life with beautiful contemporary dance!

Tutu Tales from the Train

My journey to Rome started bright and early this morning from Derbyshire. As always, I took the train โ€“ I love the leisurely pace and the opportunity to soak up the passing scenery! My travelling companions this time were a fluffy pink travel pillow, my well-worn copy of 'Anna Karenina', and a large bag full of glittery ballet shoes for the performance. Oh, and a big bag of pink sparkly hair clips, of course. Because a true Pink Tutu girl always travels prepared!

The train journey was filled with excitement! I caught glimpses of snow-capped mountains in the distance, witnessed an adorable puppy cuddling with a sleepy family, and enjoyed a delectable lunch of Italian paninis and sparkling lemonade. It really was a truly enchanting journey!

A Performance to Remember

Once I arrived in the bustling Eternal City, I jumped on the metro to Trastevere and made my way to the theatre. The Teatro Marcello is a sight to behold! The ancient Roman arches are truly awe-inspiring, and the stage itself is set in the very centre of this historic space.

The contemporary dance performance was simply exquisite! The choreography was both graceful and powerful, blending traditional Italian dance styles with a touch of modern flair. The dancers wore flowing, vibrant costumes, some even with splashes of, you guessed it, pink! The whole experience transported me to another era, filled with a whirlwind of emotions.

Ciao Bella, Shopping Adventures

Of course, no trip to Rome is complete without some serious shopping therapy! After the performance, I took a wander through the charming streets of Trastevere. There's an eclectic mix of vintage clothing stores, artisan jewellery shops, and even a cute little bookstore tucked away in a cobbled courtyard.

I found a stunning pink cashmere scarf to add to my ever-growing collection, and picked up some delightful handmade ceramics with a distinctly Roman touch. And no trip to Rome is complete without some delicious artisan pasta and a jar of sweet, creamy honey, so I indulged in those too! I truly adore discovering new places and shopping for unique treasures.

From Rome With Love

Well, that's all for this week, my lovelies! My heart is full of joy and inspiration, and my suitcase is overflowing with goodies.

Next week, I'll be exploring more hidden gems of Rome, sharing tips on finding the best gelato, and showing you all how to nail a Roman holiday outfit. In the meantime, don't forget to wear pink!

Until next Wednesday,

Ciao, bella!

Emma xx
