Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2008-04-16 - Exploring Eternal Beauty

Hello my darling darlings! Welcome to the 671st post on Pink Tutu! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a Roman adventure. Oh my goodness, my sweet lovelies, Rome is truly spectacular. You simply MUST visit!

As a little girl growing up in Derbyshire, I used to dream of travelling the world, performing in magical theatres, seeing the magnificent buildings and artworks of Europe... and, of course, shopping for gorgeous clothes and dancing my heart out in new studios.

Thankfully, that dream has come true! Right now, I'm sitting on a charming little cafe terrace, just a hop and a skip away from the Colosseum!

This week I've been exploring the city like a true Pink Tutu warrior. On Sunday, I found the most divine shop on Via Condotti, where I snagged a dazzling fuchsia pink dress that perfectly matches the colours of the ancient city walls! The Romans, you know, they have an impeccable sense of style – those dramatic colours and architectural marvels - It's like an old master painting brought to life!

I also found this lovely vintage boutique just around the corner, overflowing with antique trinkets, beaded purses, and fabulous hats. Can you imagine a pink tutu dancing through a cobbled street under the glow of a full moon, topped with a fluffy feathered hat? Sigh It's pure theatrical perfection, darling!

My travels around Rome have taken me by train. There's nothing quite like the rhythmic clattering of wheels on rails to set the mood for creative thinking! On Monday, I hopped aboard the train and travelled to a magical spot in the city just to see a gorgeous show called "Romeo and Juliet". The performance was a stunning mix of dance, theatre, and passion, held within an ancient amphitheatre surrounded by blooming lavender. *Quelle magnifique! *

This whole week, I've been indulging in the most exquisite gelato – all the flavours! And naturally, I had to pop into the Museo di Palazzo Barberini – an absolute must-see for any art lover! Their collection is spectacular, a whirlwind of colour, history, and artistry – a perfect inspiration for my next ballet routine.

I have so many lovely memories from this week – the sounds, the sights, the vibrant smells… even the delicious coffee at my local cafe! And to think, it's only been four days. Rome truly feels like home already!

But I have to get going – today's the opening night for "Swan Lake" at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and you know I won't miss a single pirouette!

So until next Wednesday, my dears, I wish you all the best for a happy week! Remember, the world is a stage, and everyone should wear pink tutus. Let your heart be your guide and always, let the dancing begin!

Love,

Emma xx www.pink-tutu.com
