Pink Tutu Rome: #672 - Ciao Bella, from the Eternal City!

Wednesday 2008-04-23

Hello my darling tutu-lovers! It's Emma here, and I'm finally in Rome! Ciao Bella! It's everything I've dreamt of - stunning architecture, delicious food, and of course, incredible fashion! The air itself feels imbued with history, and I'm just bursting with excitement to share all my adventures with you.

You see, travelling is truly the perfect combination of my three passions: ballet, fashion, and seeing the world. And, luckily, the world loves ballet just as much as I do! Each week, I earn enough money from performances back home in Derbyshire to travel somewhere exciting, and share it all with you lovely lot. So buckle up, darlings, it's going to be a wild ride through the Italian capital!

Train to Rome

The journey by train was a total delight. My trusty pink suitcase, emblazoned with a shimmering silver ballet shoe, was the talk of the carriage, naturally. It even sparked a lovely conversation with a group of students heading to the Sorbonne, who confessed they'd never seen a pink tutu before! But that's just the joy of my mission, right? Introducing the world to the magic of pink tutus. It’s amazing how much a little pink can brighten someone's day.

Exploring Ancient History

This morning, I woke up feeling like I’d stepped into a fairytale! The cobblestone streets were teeming with life - moped riders zipping past, flower stalls bursting with colourful blooms, and locals laughing over their morning coffee. And just around the corner? The Colosseum!

The sheer size of this historical marvel took my breath away. Imagine thousands of people watching gladiatorial combat right here! The Colosseum whispered stories of courage and sacrifice, reminding me how powerful performance can truly be.

My outfit of the day, naturally, was a fabulous blush pink flowing dress, perfect for swirling through the ancient ruins. A touch of sparkle with my delicate diamond necklace, and a vibrant fuchsia flower in my hair completed the look, a true homage to the timeless beauty of Rome.

Italian Style Inspiration

Shopping is another highlight, and let me tell you, Roman style is as enchanting as the city itself. There are boutiques filled with leather goods, designer shoes, and of course, the most stunning fabrics imaginable. I’m determined to find the perfect material for my next tutu, one inspired by the iconic Italian style.

Later this week, I plan to visit the Rome Opera House! It's the epitome of elegant artistry, and I'm already dreaming about all the fabulous costumes I might see on stage. Maybe even a hint of pink! Just a little, to give them an extra dose of confidence, you understand ;)

A Toast to La Dolce Vita

Of course, no visit to Rome is complete without a proper dose of "la dolce vita." Last night, we savored the tastiest pizza in a quaint little restaurant with a live music band. I couldn't help but sway along to the romantic tunes while indulging in delicious Italian gelato. A truly enchanting experience, darlings!

Stay tuned, as I will be posting weekly updates of my adventures. We’ll be exploring the Vatican City, Rome's world-famous fashion district, and trying some truly incredible dishes. I’ll even be trying my hand at Italian ballet classes – let’s just say I’m aiming to give those famous ballerinas a run for their money! But for now, ciao bella! Don’t forget to visit my website at www.pink-tutu.com, where you can join my Pink Tutu Posse and spread the joy of pink to every corner of the world!

Remember, dear friends, always stay stylish, always stay passionate, and always be true to yourself. Until next time!

Yours truly,

Emma xx
